even it is half time, connacht are winning 28 0, try from carr, tauso, muldoon and flavin, keatley get all the extras,

looks like newcastle or sarries or toulon or waps in the next round, if toulon win with a bonus point it newcastle coming to galway,

if theyre top seeds, how do they play a really top team?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,304 ✭✭✭outwest

because top 4 pool winner player runner up in hcup, and sence we top we play lowest pool winner, on 2 3 4 play hcup runner up.

Cronin must have hurt himself as Flav was in, in the 1st half.

Well there won't be many poor teams left. As first seeds they get the worst group winner at home, and because the Saracens/Castres/Toulon group was quite strong and they took points off each other, that looks like producing the lowest ranked group winner. Hopefully it won't be Saracens.

    0 - 66

    10 tries, 8 convs.

Looks like it will be Saracens or newcastle, I don't think it can be Toulon?

toulon play tongiht at home to castre

But if they get 4 points they're out, if they get five they wont be the lowest ranked pool winner.

    connacht bourguan qf,

it a very winnable game, we have a great record v franch team at home, hopefully we can make it to final which is possibler if we get winners of toulan and scarlets in the semis

Connacht have a great chance of winning this game against Bourgoin. Hopefully they'll keep it in the Sportsground.

Toulon and the new performing Scarlets are hardly walkovers, I doubt that Connacht would beat either of them tbh.
    Love to see it though!

Believe Connacht have every chance of making the final especially if they get a home draw in the semis. Wasps don't seem to be the side they once were;Bourgoin/Toulon are certainly beatable in Galway; Scarlets have already lost there as have Cardiff. Gloucester seem to be finding form after early season wobbles and if they struggle to make automatic qualification through English Premiership they may target this Challenge Cup competition. But Connacht in my view have nothing to fear. They've already done the double over an EP side (Worcester) so anything's possible.

If they get a home semi-final, they could do it.

The semi-finals used to be two leg affairs didn't they? I recall them being that way the last time Connacht was in them.

AFAIK as top seeds if they win the quarter final they also get a home draw for the semi - think I read that somewhere this week.

    Really? Excellent!

They might play that game at Thomond, considering it's a semi final.

I'd doubt it. Don't think Connacht would fill half fill thomond even for a semi final.

    Depends on the opposition imo.

if it's Toulon and Conters is coming, I'm sure many Munster supporters would come and "cheer" for him. :p

Big danger I see as Gloucester as they seem to be finding form recently e.g. big wins over both Biarritz and Dragons. So if Connacht could either get a home semi-final against them or avoid them at semi-final stage with Gloucester facing an away semi-final in e.g. France and possibly going out at that stage then Connacht stand a real chance in my opinion of winning this cup. Facing Gloucester in the final at a neutral venue would be more difficult. Just a word of caution about Bourgoin. Didn't they struggle somewhat in their pool last season (losing three times) yet go on to beat both London Irish and Worcester before losing to Northampton in the final?

I think a lot will depend on how they re doing in the T14. They're hovering over the drop zone at the mo. They seem to be taking the CC seriously this year but I would nt be at all surprised if they didn't field a full strength team for the quarter. They have a small squad and are in real finacial difficulty. Relegation would be a nail in their coffin.

Went off after 10 with an ankle injury. He seemed to go over it when making a break. He reckoned it was only a sprain but he had to get it checked out on Monday.

Pears Stadium, with some forged Garda and GAA signatures?
