they called me a few hours ago and said i'd won. it was a UK number and I thought it was someone from work and nearly didn't answer!

when the guy told me, i was expecting the next line to be "and all you have to do to claim your prize is send £5000 to my bank in Nigeria" but he didn't, he was being totally legit. :D

i'm even up on the website and everything, check it out. :)

    http://promotions.ovi.com/nyc/
First Prize: Our luxurious New York shopping experience includes:
    - Flights for two to New York City
    - Three nights accomodation
    - £1,500 spending money
    - Two brand new Nokia N97 handsets

i know it's going to seem like i'm gloating, but i'm not it's just i was bursting to tell people and everyone i know is already in bed! :o

i really thought that 2010 was just going to be another sh1tty year with no good luck, but i'm getting married in June and just when i thought we weren't even going to have enough for a honeymoon after paying for the all the wedding stuff this come along and has pretty much made my whole year. just checking with them now to see if we can move the return flight out a couple of weeks so we can stay on our own there after the 3 days is up, but hopefully it should be okay. would be a real shame to get all the way there and then have to come home so soon.

i actually always assumed that things like this didn't actually happen to real people. i've never won anything more than the odd €5 on the lotto, but it looks like i might have been wrong after all. :)

dammit, i'm never going to get to sleep now for thinking about it. :D

the competition was to answer 5 questions about new york as fast as you could on this little flash based a, b or c questionnaire and i just got lucky clicking like a lunatic and i guess i was the fastest.

my dad is in the UK and was even kind enough to give me the same name, so i should be okay either way, but i'm almost certain it was a Europe wide contest.

i actually have an n97 already and was thinking of getting an n900, i wonder if they'd do a swap? :)

New York you say. Sure why would ye be going there, shure isn't Kildare village as good as the Big Apple? So the radio ads say anyway. I've never been - I don't like the food in foreign counties.

fingers crossed & touching wood (no, not that wood!). :)

yeah, last year was cruddy, but looking forward to the wedding and hopefully looking forward to a nice honeymoon afterwards.

they said we could take the prize any time in the next 12 months, so we figured that the first week in December would be perfect. Christmas in New York is supposed to be amazing and a bit of xmas shopping there wouldn't go astray at all.

I've seen a t-shirt that says "i failed the turing test" that i wanted to get. :)

righto, never mind the big apple, i'm up at 5:45 and it's about time for me to turn into a pumpkin. ;)

    seriously....never...gonna....get....to...sleep!

You should totally have told your missus that you paid for it.

You'd get constant blowjobs the whole time you were there.

Now you'll have to settle for just, y'know, the usual 5 or 6 a day. :D

Be sure to check out Harlem and the Bronx. It's amazing. Anywhere above 136th. And stay away from 5th and 6th avenue. Stick to 7th-9th. Way nicer.

When I was small I used to fill in competition forms in supermarkets while waiting for the parents to do their shopping, I've won quite a few things in life (though nothing as awesome as what the OP got):

Weekend trip in Galway, presidential suite stay in a 4 star hotel courtesy of Denny's sausages.

    Ipod 80gb courtesy of pigsback.com

Ipod nano courtesy of coca cola

Mini television courtesy of coca cola again (this can of coke came free with a pizza we ordered :D)

If you're not in it, you can't win it ;)

You should go see the David Letterman Late Show.

If you put in the Ticket Request form that you are coming from Ireland they will sort you out. Know a few people who got tickets that way.

You get asked trivia questions - PM me if your stuck on any of them. Here's the online form for tickets:

    http://www.cbs.com/late_night/late_show/tickets/online.php

    Have fun.
