PB running and connamara

    what does PB running mean? sorry guys, i'm a novice and am doing research how to train for the connamara half marathon? is it total folly to do this race as my first one?

    a PB means your Personal Best or the quickest time you have achieved for a particular distance. Loads of people do Connemara as their first marathon or half marathon - its a great one for it.

    thanks asimov. i live in the midlands- is very flat - and am fretting about the hills. i started to think twice about doing it but reckon i still have time to train at least to complete the damn thing.

    If you do the miles mosesmoses the hills will look after themselves. The Conn hills aren't too bad. When you think its getting bad just focus on the patch of road a few feet ahead. Obviously, if you can get in some hills into your training regime it would be an advantage but its not the be all and end all.

    +1 to this - i bet you didn't enter it because you thought it would be easy.
    Having the discipline to do the training between now and then will be harder than the race itself. You've over 11 weeks left to go, grab a halhigdon half-marathon programme off the 'net and get stuck in. :)

    In addition to the good advice above perhaps try get one or two races in before Connemara to help boost the confidence and get you in the racing mode. Try a 5km, 5miler or 10km.
