Sky HD box and sound

This might be a bit of a silly question....

Just upgraded from Sky+ to HD. The sound from the HD box is a better quality than the Sky+ box.

But I notice with the HD box I have to set the volume setting to probably around 80% of its capacity in order to hear the TV properly.

With the Sky+ box the volume setting (on the same TV) was around 40%.

    Why is this so?

(The sound option in settings on the HD box:

    Audio Output: Stereo

    Digital Audio Output: Dolby d

Digital Audio Output Delay: 0ms )

on sky+ boxes they had a volume adjust option in the box settings

on sky+HD boxes, there is no such option, i think they removed it in a firmware update

they *might* in the future re-introduce the feature..... might who knows

When I got my HD box last week, it had the original Sky+ interface on the box. So I was able to access the volume adjust option but it still didn't make any difference to the sound on my new HD box.

I think my HD box is Amstrad. In the last couple of days Sky downloaded the new HD interface and as you mentioned it doesn't have that volume adjust option.

The sound is good but if for example, I am in the kitchen with the TV on in the background in the living room its very hard to hear it. I have to put the sound up to max.

I didn't have this problem with my old Sky+ box.
