British producer/director John Boorman is to get recognition for his work in Irish cinema over the last 40 years in the upcoming IFTA ceremony. Quite right to, while I'm pretty sure when he arrived here in 1969 it was as one of Charlies Artistic tax haven Angels he sought to use his Deliverence success to bolster the native industry first with Zardoz in 1974 and then Excaliber as well as becoming a wheeler dealer with the IFB and Ardmore Studios.

He's made a few decent flicks as well, Point Blank and Deliverance pop up on TCM on a fairly regular basis for those who don't know his work, plus he put sex into chainmail with the aforementioned Excaliber, while Zardoz is just mad Ted but strikingly so. He has a great eye for composition and lighting.
