Using bonding to repair teeth damaged from grinding

    Hello all,
My central incisors (top and bottom) are both worn down. They look as if I chipped them but I didn't. I have a bad habit of nail biting and also grind my teeth- I am forever catching myself doing it but I never have pains in my jaw from it.
I am considering getting bonding on the chipped areas to repair them, would this also protect them against future grinding/nail biting or would the bonding just eventually become damaged too?

I am working on stopping the nail biting but it is a nervous habit and it doesn't help that I don't actually like having long nails anyway! Same with the teeth grinding. I don't even realise I am doing it most of the time.

would have to start with everybody's different. have had many patients who complained of something like what you talk about who have had composite fillings (did i miss the day these became known as just bonding?!!) and have been very happy with the results. there have been others with very small chips that would only really be noticeable to their tongue which they broke off again due to wear and tear. it all depends on the extent of their parafunction if they have any.
speaking from personal experience, i have a composite tip on one of my front teeth that i use to bite my own nails. it's failed a couple of times in the past 11 years. once was eating a peach and hitting the stone!
