It was the only thing they could think fo that didn't involve Thierry Henry and Tiger Woods.

The ad caused you to make a thread on it, therefore Gilette wins. Publicity is publicity is publicity.

They are a waste of time, when I was shaving I'd be lucky to get 2 shaves from a blade. Even then I never got a close shave.
One time I used one of my dad's disposable Gillettes and didn't look back. 2 blades, no clogging, nice exposed blades, brilliant. Now I just use a clippers a couple of times a year when the beard gets a bit too long.

duh! it's to encourage you to buy new blades which my b/f continually complains about the cost of. I don't mind though, they're still perfectly good for shaving my legs even after he's finished with them... I assume my monkey shins aren't as much of a challenge as his manly stubble :D

Grow a beard :D works for me, i buy an 8 pack of razors every Christmas and as long as nobody nicks them on me i'm sorted for the year

Because the blades are so damn expensive people use them for as long as possible. Gilette want you to change your blades more often!

The multiblades clog and i really should know more about them but i am too lazy. i used electric for years then though the others were cleaner but they are expensive.

the aloe vera strip means its time to change the blade- how does it know?

the safety razors with the old fashioned blades are they good or would i amputate a few fingers changing blades etc.

As this thread started out about advertising I'm leaving it here in tGC. However if it turns into a shaving thread then I'll move it over to the Facial Hair forum where there is a huge amount of shaving banter.

    I'm older than Minecraft goats.

I presume it(aloe vera) gets worn away, and the white is the plastic underneath.

Ah don't worry, they have those strips on the ladies ones too, completely pointless, if people can't tell when the blade is done, they probably shouldn't be using sharp things anyway.

That ad says to me that

1.Our blades and razors are so bad, we needed to set up special repair centres.

2.Our products are flimsy and costly to repair/replace.

3.We spent so much dosh on Henry/Woods etc that we cant afford to make more than one ad, so we'll just dub our american one and hope you dont notice.

What annoys me personally is the insinuation that the Mach 3 blades are now crap, as in the Fusion is a far superior blade.

From a usage point of view, I would say that for frequent use the Mach 3 is better in terms of performance and better value for money. I shave twice a week if I need to be clean shaved. Only 1 fusion blade would last before wearing out. I can get this with the Mach 3 and save money.

The lesson? Don't screw around with a winning formula.

And an old toothbrush is great for removing the debris behind the razor.

I have found the aloe vera stripo is a great reminder to give the razor a good service

Remember the more sales Gillette make, the more money Henry gets. You can get a different brand and that poltroon doesn't get a single penny out of it.

Such a bad advert.. I'd imagine it was made to discourage the use of products that extend the life of their blades.
