Advice needed - Lost 2.5 stone But still not happy with My body:(

Hi Guys so I lost alot of weight over the last 12 months, Im not sure how much of that was fat and how of it was muscle. Im 11 stone & about 5''6'' tall. Im 21 years old.

    My diet cosists of usually

Breakfast - 4 slices of toast & butter & a cup of Tea

Lunch - Chicken Fillet - Granny Smith Apple - Muller Light Stawberry Yoghurt

    Snack: Granny Smith Apple

Dinner: 2 chicken fillets or Chicken Curry with brown rice.

I know the diet isn't the best , For example I wouldn't be getting much veg so i usually try to put some into the curry as I hate the taste of Veg.

At the moment Im doing a weights programme. I'm wondering is this the best approach or should I just concentate on cardio??

Altough I did lose some weight I would say My Body Fat % would be still high.

    Thanks

    Youre male?

Well done on the weight loss.:) What is it that youre not happy with? That you still look overweight, or you lack muscle tone?

That I Still look overweight, Sorry forgot to say , yes im a male. TBH i used to eat 2/3 bags of crisps a day, chips everyday, fizzy drinks, chinese once a week at least. When I copped on & stopped all that the weight fell off

But i still have a belly & one of the most annoying things is the moobs..Still very curvy considering I'm 11 stone :P Maybe Im doing the wrong weights and enhancing the how noticeable the moobs are, thats one thing im worried about.

i have to say though, it feels like using weight machines keeps the moobs a bit more tight
than kinda saggy if you know what i mean :)

I'd rather be skinnyish that look like a block with fat & muscle ??

Firstly, congrats on the weight loss - fair play to you!

I would incorporate cardio into your routine. Start slowly walking and build up to running. I know some guys who have lost loads of weight like yourself and this is one of the things they did.
Maybe as well you could change up your weights routine? Work your muscles in a different way.

As for your diet - you definitely need to make a few changes. It has worked so far but i'd say now is the time for some change...

You could go low carb if you wish but I am not a big believer in that and I dont think its a good approach for guys....

The four slices of toast with butter could be replaced with Porridge either made with milk or water depending on your taste with some fruit like a banana.

You need to be more adventurous with your protein - chicken all the time must be boring???

Try some fish - salmon and tuna are good.

And you will have to incorporate more fruit and veg - ok you may not like them now but experiment with different ways of preparing them. And if you must have curry - make your own - al lot of th ejars/packets are laced with MSG..

    Best of luck

first off, well done on the weight loss. secondly, your breakfast needs review! - read the stickies. diet is good otherwise but need more vegetables and fruit like berries.

maybe you are not being patient enough? i lost a lot of weight previously and the last bit is always the hardest to shift, and if you want to do it quickly you need o relaly clean up the diet and exercise hard.

Im not very experienced here... and Ive seen disagreements here over which is best for weight loss, cardio or weights. In my opinion, lots of cardio (running, cycling) will strip weight off you, though you do have to bear in mind that as your body becomes used to the exercise, the weight loss slows. But anyone who runs high mileage is skinny, you cant really argue with that. BUT. I think you also need to include some weights. Not to bulk you, but to strengthen your limbs and core, which will also improve your appearance.

Thanks For your. In relation to the diet I will change some of my eating. I work 5/6 days a week so when I come home I really want to enjoy my food. I really do hate veg, the taste just makes me sick. I don’t mind having Veg soup though. I really have tried so many times but I just hate it. So I mostly just avoid it.

I eat lots of chicken. TBH I never get sick of it, I have a bit of BBQ sauce with or a bit of salt. I will change the toast to porridge, might add almonds or raisins to it to liven it up . I also eat 2/3 pieces of fruit a day.

I was thinking of having peanut butter and rice cake as a snack also?? I would rather the above diet even if it slows down the fat loss rate, Im enjoying my food , Not being miserable & falling off the wagon, I think that was the key to me losing weight the last while!

You can't possibly dislike EVERY SINGLE type of vegetable.

OP, your attitude is great, youre very realistic about what you can, and cannot do. As in stick to a diet you hate. :) It seems to be serving you well so far.

The veg thing has me curious too. Sometimes it takes a while to adapt to the taste of veg, and I do wonder what you have tried and how it was cooked/prepped. Cos veg varies hugely in how it tastes. Onions are not like tomato are really not like celery and so on... And fruit. You eat raw apple. How about pear, grapes melon and clementines?

    both!

lots of cardio on its own will undoubtedly make you lose fat but to change your body shape you must do weights. a mixture of cardio training incorporating intervals/high tempo stuff and resistance training using compound lifts will help you achieve your goals.

I think what people often miss is that there is a difference between losing weight and being slim or slimmer - and LOOKING GOOD.

To get the former is easy, just drop your calories and eat the right food. Looking good requires some sort of bodyweight training or weights of some sort - you need to actually 'SHAPE' your body - that's why it's called 'in shape'. No point in being muscular and fat, but likewise there is no point in being just a slimmer version of yourself if your aim is to look hot/good/impressive.

OP - don't listen to anyone who tells you to eat your veg or stop being a child and eat your veg etc etc. Life is wayyy too short to be eating something you don't like! I'm not a massive fan of eating veg (I do eat my veg, carrots, turnip, scallions, lettuce etc etc) but I do LOVE veg soup - so keep gettin it down ya.

Right now what you need is to get a good weights programme in place and you will start to see things go in the right direction.

Thanks For all the responses, the previous poster is spot on, So many times I’ve went all out strict diet & failed, Personally I believe that you need to enjoy your food or else you will fall off the wagon easy!! In relation to the veg soup, is there any you can buy out there that’s good for you e.g. campbells???

I like the idea of mixing weights & cardio.

Because of my work schedule I usually make it to the gym 3 times a week. Does anyone have a program or know a good routine for incorporating weights with cardio! I would prefer to use weight machines when doing weights instead of free weights .

    Thanks again for the response!!.
