    Hi,

Last week I won a pair of jeans (a good pair, purchased for a cheap price cos the auction ended in midweek) on ebay but when I went to pay the seller hadn't calculated the postage costs overseas. I emailed them about it but they still haven't got back to me so I still haven't paid. I'm sure there is nothing to worry about but I've never had any problems before with ebay and transactions have always been quick. What time frame of waiting for correspondence is acceptable or is it completely up to the descretion of the seller?

    Cheers.

How long are you waiting for a reply? Personally I would expect a reply within two working days.

Since Friday. Won the item on Thursday. I thought 2 days would have been about right as well. I kind of forgot about it over the weekend. I'm asking cos I'm not used to this. Usually when I ask a question on eBay I get a reply within a day. The seller has a 99% feedback rating and has sold a lot of items but they are not a power seller. I emailed them before the auction ended to get a price and after it ended but I haven't got a reply.

You should never ever bid on an auction which does not have the postage to your country listed. You rightly emailed them in advance but I would not have bidded without a reply.

The cost of shipping, and more importantly the extra handling involved could be very high -and rightly so- they have to go ringing around couriers, or go to the post office etc, I would be charging €50 per hour for this service. From your last post it seems the price was fair but it could have been very high. I am not certain but I think the seller could put a complaint in against you if you did not want to go through with the payment.

You're completely right but the item was a pair of jeans so I knew the postage costs weren't going to be that ridiculous even if the seller was to hike it up a bit. If it had of been an item of greater bulk or stature I wouldn't have bid.
