i am curious about joining the Garda Síochána but i have noticed on the webpage as follows

    "What are the educational requirements?
Candidates must have obtained in the Leaving Certificate:

A grade not lower than B3 at Foundation Level or D3 at another level in Mathematics, and
A qualifying grade in 2 languages, 1 of which must be English or Irish, as follows:
English: a grade not lower that D3 at Ordinary Level
Irish: a grade not lower than C3 at Foundation Level or D3 at another level
Other language: a grade not lower than D3 at Ordinary Level, and
A grade not lower than D3 at Ordinary Level, in not less than 2 other subjects
    Or

The Merit Grade in the Applied Leaving Certificate

    Or

Like Grades in another examination, which, in the opinion of the Minister for Justice, Equality & Law Reform, is not of a lower standard than the above."

now the only thing is i only did english and irish for the leaving cert as i disliked french but did it 1st year in college as part of a hospitality course and got a distinction in it so am curious would dat do or would i need a proper certificate of a pass or would dat be good enough as it says in the last part of what i copied off the webpage because i would really like to join whenever the next recruitment is coming up? would appreciate whatever info i can get back

You need 2 languages, at least one to include English or Irish. If you have English and Irish they are 2 languages with at least one including English or Irish! You dont need French.

Thats what I take from the requirements anyway. You need 2 languages. You have 2. You could ring hq for clarification if you're not sure? It's a bit obscure in it's wording.. Best of luck anyways.
