    I know its not Ireland but its refreshing to see a police officer calling for reason and understanding of firearms. I assumed it would have been a representative of a sporting body.

    Lads, the DOJ and most of the legislators here know all this already. They just have to be seen to be doing something for the overall population who dont understand. The DOJ are not stupid, either is Ahern. After all this s**te is dealt with, no changes will be evident in our gun crime statistics. BUT, MR Ahearn will be a great fella to have taken such drastic measures to control firearms. The only difference will be as usual, we're the ones that will feel the changes. Criminals will once again have no changes made to there activities nor will there be any talks about changing things for them. Irish governments dont believe in tackling the route of any problem they usually try to enforce the problem away instead of stamping the problem away, which would involve going after criminal gangs and there illegally held guns. When we talk about logic in Ireland, we're not talking about government.
