Hi folks hopeing i can tease your brain on a recent satellite installiation

I was having a mind boggleing conundrum of how to run the cable and the installer sorted it in 2 mins. He lifted the roof tile and pushed the cable up through the felt gap.

This suites me greatly but I have to say I am curious.

Has anyone else had this done....

does it constitute standard procedure or is it dangerous

    Has anyone encountered any problems...

Again I am really happy with this but like many things in life I figure if this was normal everyone would be doing it and they are not

    Or are they.....

    Hi Joey,
I dont know if it's normal or not but I have ran in cables on my own house using this method for years without any problems.

Thanks willby do you not find any water coming in under the felt with this. I am going to keep an eye on it for a few days.

    Hi OP,
    Have also done the same.
The tile he lifted would have an overlap on the underlying tile of about 4-6 inches, therefore water ingress shouldn't be a problem.

    Hi,
In addition to Stakers post ensure that there is a u bend on the cable just before it goes under the tile. Any rain that follows the cable will drop off at the bottom of the bend and not follow the cable under the tile.
This would also be a normal procedure when running a cable through a wall.

Yes i considered that and pushed the cable back out a little. I imagine the fact that it comes up under the tile it has a natural climb but just in case i pushed the cable back slightly and it "U" ed so to speak.

    Thanks
