Where to buy a reliable freesat kit, inc. dish & receiver.

Having just been on the phone to satellite.ie inquiring about their freesat kit at a reasonable e98.00, however upon phoning after messing up the order process i find that if upon receipt of said kit, and after fitting it, if it does not work what is their return policy. I was informed that it wouldn't arise and that there was no way it could not work. To me this is not satisfactory and as i'm not familiar with consumer law over here felt it best to try elsewhere. Does anybody have any alternatives? Thanks boards members for all the useful advice.

This is complete and utter rubbish and a mis representation of the phone call you just made to me.

Any purchases made either by phone internet or television are covered by EU distance selling regulations which means you have the right to cancel the order within 7 working days.

It does not mean however that you can buy something try it out and then send it back if you cannot get it working as you wished to do. I informed you that if you had problems getting it working that we could send an installer to you and of course if the equipment was faulty it would be replaced.

There is a video on the product page showing how to install the system so you know what is involved.

I have built up a strong reputation for customer service since 1994 and your post is an unacceptable lie to put it bluntly.

Your post will be reported to the mods and I ask you to edit it immediately.

Having had several dealings with Tony at Satellite.ie, I have yet to come across a customer that was not happy with the professional level of service that Tony has provided. The reputation Satellite.ie has built up over the years is abselutely untouchabe.

It's a pity you took to handling the issue in this deceptive manner. Your loss.

With regards to tonys' angry reply, you never told me that a service person would come and sort any problems out. I asked a simple question about the return of eqipment in the event that it doesn't work upon assembly, if, as you quote in your reply, you had informed me of the relevent consumer law I wouldn't have felt the need to ask for other vendors. You handled the call badly and even if your supporters say I'm wrong {how, if they didn't hear the conversation} you are only as good as your last sale. This is a case of one word against another and calling for a moderator to moderate on something that they were not party to is absurd. Perhaps if you work on your phone attitude this argument would never have taken place, for my part I am sorry for hanging up on you, but you wound me up with your non answers to my valid question and I repeat, if you had told me on the phone what you wrote in your reply this would never have occurred.

Anyone would be angry if they were to come online and see such a post about them and their company.

Tony has years of experience in this industry and if his phone attitude was in question, he would not have the successful business he has.

As for "supporters", we are people in the trade who have had numerous dealings with Tony and his customers and never once has there been a complaint or a gripe with Tony or Satellite.ie.

If you felt you had a problem with Tony, you should have emailed him or maybe not hung up in the first place besides bringing it on to an internet forum.

I have never bought anything from tony but have in fact installed a lot of equipment sold by him through his company, and have always found it to be of high standard, No seller of sat equipment can be held responsible for the fact that a end user who chooses to install themselves and makes a mess of it.

A repubutable company such as satellite.ie will always put the end user in touch with an installer but this would cost the end user.

Tony spends a great deal of time here helping out thousands of people everyday at no expense..

Perhaps there is a misunderstanding of the term "if it does not work", with one party meaning "if it is faulty" while the other also includes the possibility of it not having been installed correctly, resulting in needless argument?

Obviously, faulty goods are covered by legislation and, as has been said, distance selling regulations, whereas trying something out and not getting it working to satisfaction is a different matter.

Unfortunately that is not the case here. I expalined as best as I could to the OP what the product entailed but he became angry and hung up, next thing I know he is posting on here complately mis representing what I said to him.

Thats the big problem a lot of people will buy a diy kit try to fit it themselves or get Bob the builder to fit it and make a balls of the install and then expect the seller in this case Tony to take it back. Why didnt the OP choose to buy a system off Tony fully fitted. I will say to the OP Instead of trying to save €149 get it professionaly installed.
What a lot of us guys here have learned From Tony, Watty And Byte over the years could not be found in any book, Keep up the good work Tony.

My question was.. does anybody know where I can but a satellite freeview kit. This response reminds me of our masters in government & church, ie. ignore the complaint and attack the complainant, 'ah sure I've known the guy for years he'd never do a thing like that' mmmmmm No accountability, no honesty and refusal to admit wrongdoing. By the way tony there was another in the room when i made the call and she heard the whole of it, I asked her was I really so wrong and had you said all you claim, not so. Perhaps you are a fine businessman, but not to me. I was at the point of making a purchase and it was only your attitude on the phone that put me off, grow up and a bit of honesty in your postings would be a good thing. By the way it is feeble to call me a liar, Oscar Wilde "methinks he doth protesteth too much". I have no interest in any more of your stupid and dishonestly abusive postings, peace & love.....

What sort of kit do you want a DIY kit or a complete Freesat system fully installed by an expieranced installer. If you go the DIY route what you will have to understand is that no supplier will take it back if you put it all together put in on to a wall and then find that you can't get a signal

If you have a complaint about my service then you should complain to me. This Forum is to help people with satellite queries not to vent your mis directed anger. Hopefully a satellite mod will be on soon to remove the entire thread. Thanks to all for the supportive and reasonable comments.

OP - resolve any issues with Tony's company by email, PM or telephone, here's not the place to do it.

NO personal attacks on anyone on this forum, please.

    Thread closed.
