    Hi Lads,

Just wondering what the best satellite box would be?

    My current set up is:

    Sky Dish
    Sky Plus Downstairs
Rte, Net 2, TV3, TG4, BBC1, BBC2, ITV, CH4 downstairs and split to other rooms - Currently reception is cat this is from South Coast Community and Aeriel
Red Eye to a few tvs
    Sky Upstairs

I have used a few cable boxes when I was living in Dublin, would be ok and installing patches, upgrading etc. etc.

So I was wondering what recommendations people would have? Was thinking of taking a few more cables of the sky satellite and use a dreambox or technomate?

I've read up and found that you can't get RTE1 etc on FTA but is there a patch for the boxes that would get past this? (Not sure if this constitutes hacking as I pay my tv license etc so I am entitled to the chanels just looking for better reception, please remove if this constitutes hacking)

    So that's basically the story.

What I'm looking for is something to imitate the set up we have at the moment, i.e. the BBCs and RTEs on all TVs just with a better reception and leave the sky boxes as is or maybe red eye still.

    Thanks for your time.
    //Gary

Paying a tv licence gives you no such entitlement. You pay the licence on the the tv's ability to receive tv in general, not RTE in particular and, afaik, discussion of hacking is verboten on this board.

    Cool.

Was wondering about the license thing, I mean if I have a monitor at home, no aerial, watch tv online do I have to pay a license??

I'm a big loser at the moment and living at home with the folks so obviously they are paying it I'm just wondering??

Also any recommendations on satellite boxes??

If you have any equipment capable of receiving tv broadcast you need a license.

at the moment no, but they are closing this in the new broadcasting bill and one will may need a tv licence for any net enabled computer if/when it passes.
