Interesting countdown of Jay-Z's many subliminal disses.

    http://www.complex.com/blogs/2010/01/15/shots-fired-jay-zs-sneakiest-dis-lines/

Got to admit, it missed many of them, particularly the Clipse! Maybe he's catching feelings that they've put themselves on the throne of Coke rap!

One i thought they might include was the last verse on "Thank You" of BP3. Just me, or is that anopther Dipset diss?

im a huge jay z fan but i know what your saying, jay hasnt battled since nas whooped his ass and thats a fact.

iv lost count of how many rappers have called him out or replyed to his subliminal disses and jay just brushes them off like he's too big, which in most cases is true but he cant be serious if he thinks he's bigger than 50.

that would be a great battle even krs one wanted jay to respond to 50 but jay being jay didnt. what does jay do to respond to 50? drops another subliminal diss in saying men lie women lie but numbers dont reffering to 50's bisd album flopping and doing bad numbers 1st week.

50 quickly responded and put jay in his place in terms of numbers by reminding jay that he done his career in 5 years with only 3 albums outselling what jay done in 15 years with numerous albums.

would be an interesting battle but jay dont want it just like he didnt want it with game either.

I think you lost it by comparing 50 to Jay. I mean Sean Carter (In respect to Jaz-O) is a commercial success along with 50. But Sean is 10 times the rapper 50 will ever be.

Carter likes to take shots at wash ups. Since Nas killed him he's gone totally commercial. I mean he works with the people who he should and could be killin in hip-hop. He's a total sell-out. That's what's wrong with the game now-a-days.

You have to go hard underground to find a few decent tapes that aren't trying to rap for the pop charts.

And that autotune song is a bit hypocritical. He sold 808's & Heartbreak?

He's too cocky for his MC skills. It's happened to everyone Jay, Nas, Em, Dre etc. All the mainstream hip-hop icons are so commercialised so much now-a-days I don't care for hip-hop like I once did.

No, i don't think i was saying anything other than here's an interesting list of subliminal disses from Jay-z.

First off, Nas never killed Jay. Seriously, try actually listening to the lyrics of both takeover and ether and see whether the gay jokes and made up gangsterism/fake threats stack up against a brutal character assassination and complete and ridiculing of his career, lyric skills and street credibility!

Anyway, i don't think its a case of Jay-z being scared of a beef with the likes of the game or 50 etc. I think its more of a case that (a) i don't think Jay thinks any of them are really on his level, and (b) i don't think he's interested in all this Youtube bull**** that passes for a rap battle these days. Jay isn't one of these publicity hungry whores who will do anything to get their asses on the interweb (that bull**** with 50 and rick ross' child's mother) and i don't think he wants to have be dragged into all that crap too. I mean, has he even admitted publicly that he's dating beyonce, never mind married to her?

And its not just with rappers, he hasn't really ever addressed the dame dash fall out or that dude de-haven in any meaningful way. i just think maybe its a case of for once a rapper having the good sense to keep some stuff private instead of twittering every bowel movement or youtubing every time he gets punched in the face!

Also, on a proper listen, and after the casket line was pointed out to me, i've figured that the last verse of thank you is actually also probably about the clipse (the whole sales flop thing, "couple of dudes"), given he also refers to them in the first verse (keys open doors, which i got but didn't think was a shot)!

the whole nas vs jay is debatable but the majority of hip hop would say nas won that battle hands down. iv listned to all the tracks and followed the beef and i personally think nas won.

you hit the nail on the head here when you said jayz thinks that none of them are on his level, that is a terrible excuse for not battling other mc's and jay should hang his head in shame. To some point you can understand it with certain artists and game probably falls into that catogery of being below jay but c'mon serioulsy he is not bigger than 50 comerically and if jay replyed with a non-subnimal diss it would be a great battle for hip hop a real battle not like that fake bull like say 50 vs kanye etc why? because both 50 and jay would have so much to lose in terms of credibilty and there ego's of being number 1 in new york(comercially).

I would agree jay is a better mc than 50 but the only reason he is even up there in terms of publicty with em,50,dre and other comercilsed artists is in my opininon down to beyonce and the simple fact he has turned pop since he hooked up with her, several tracks on bp3 prooved this and this being jays most succesful album to date in this time frame prooves the whole pop turn over helped him. but both artists have sold out.

altough i said jay is a better mc than 50 which he undoubtedly is i do think think in terms of battling and beef etc 50 would eat him alive why?
50's career revolves around contervarsy and 50 aint 50 unless he's beefing of some kind lol just look at his track record he has dropped some quailty diss tracks how to rob etc and also has a couple of hands down victorys in beefs against other artists which jay doesnt really have.

the whole jay vs beanie segal issue where jay pretty much sent him to jail i think is a huge reason why jay wont battle 50 because beanie is pretty much on the verge of signing to gunit. you have to admire 50 for that move because you know deep down he' s only using beanie as somewhat of a puppet if beef does surface.

in terms of beef yes it should be just the music but times change and so does hip hop thats why so many of our favourite artists more pop than hip hop.

Why would you admire somebody for using somebody like beanie for their own personal gain, and then discarding them all bloody and bruised once they have had their fun. Seriously, you admire that?

**** sake, its only rap. why would you wanted to see anybody ****ed over for 3 minutes of entertainment on youtube. the world is heading in a pretty **** direction.

because its smart, rap beef is not decided just over music anymore its based on everything from music to making a show out of your oppenent any way you can. beanie's the one who'd want to wake the **** up but he probaly got a few quid for it so i doubth he even cares.

exactly its only rap but thats the way it is now like it or not thats hip hop these days its entertainment thats why there's so many fake mc's who claim to be something there not etc.

isn't 50 the biggest of these fake emcees? All that gimmickery on youtube isn't hip-hop, its entertainment that panders to the lowest common denominator. It's nothing to do with hip-hop, nothing to do with music. And as stupid as they all are for engaging in it, the people who lap that **** up are even stupider.

Here's Jay-z latest sneakiest diss lines. Its on his new single 'On to the next One'. A response to a video The Game made, http://www.sohh.com/2009/07/the_game_taunts_jay-z_in.html.

Jay-Z: "n-ggas in the same spots, me I’m dodging rain drops,
meaning i’m on vacay, chillin on a big yacht,
yeah i go ton flip flops, white louie boat shoes,
you should grow the f-ck up,
come here let me coach you."

I love sneaky disses. They're more fun than straight beef tracks which have been done to death.

TBH, I wish more rappers with ability would do commercial music. Up the standard a bit instead of leaving it to people who're sh1t. There's always loads of heads doing underground hip hop. I wish I could find more decent beatmakers who could do commercial, but not make it sound cheesy. Dusty sampled beats with no choruses are grand for headphones but it's hard rock a show with that kind of thing. Have to meet half way with your audience (No Black Eyed Peas).

sorry about delay in reply internet was down.

well if you belive 50 is fake then you obviously belive the gimmickery that is on youtube because there isnt any real proof its just all generated from hate, where as most recently someone like rick ross has come out and said he was a prision officer after denying it for a very long time now thats fake.

and please dont come back saying he wasnt shot 9 times, thats like the whole jayz and roc a fella music worshipping the devil or whatever that junk is.

as much as i agree with you on the beef situation at the end of the day its all entertainment thats what hip hop has become its wwf like it or not bud.

this whole 50 cent vs jay z "frenemies" thing has been turned on its head by hip hop fans

the 2 dudes have been doing business since day one...they did a reebok venture, various artist deals like freeway etc

thing is jay is known for being sneaky/selfish in that respect, as can be seen with his whole deal 1st with jaz-o then later on with haven and then dame and now beans...

jay puts himself before others when doing business and this is what annoys 50, as he tried the same stuff on the freeway project where he wanted 50 to put the workload on his shoulder and jay will just get paid for freeloading over it...

thats the business aspect of it and i understand why 50 would get annoyed with it...

as far as the hip hop side of things...they are just 2 different type of rappers...50 cent was to the era of 2000-2005 what jay z was 1995-2000....when everyone was on some trend-following stuff these 2 came and flipped the game upside down...

jay z is the more skilled mc, noone can deny that, but hes not a battle mc, even tho he thrived upon that aspect as he came in the game...50 cent`s whole M.O is conflict...thats when hes at his best and thats when hes at his optimum...

in a battle on vinyl, jay would eat 50 cent...in a war Jay doesnt stand a chance whatsoever..hip hop isnt rap...50 knows this more than anyone else in the hip hop world

jay might win the battle, but 50 will win the war simple as...and im saying this as a jay z fan

how is it nothing to do with hip hop or with music...when the issues that arise come from that very same music environment, as well as that very same hip hop environment forcing artists to be dynamic and adapt...

First off, i just really couldn't give a **** either way whether 50 cent was shot or not. i'm sure he was, but what difference? I never knew it was something to be proud of! Or am i missing something.

Anyway, i'm just gonna drop this because we clearly are coming at this from different perspectives. I'm a simple man, my music tastes are based on music, not on whatever Xpose says is the hottest hip-hop internet trend of 2010.

If i wanted to listen to grown men act like idiots and make phony threats over the airwaves, i'd listen to Chris Barry. I don't. When 50 cent starts making good songs again, i'll pay attention to him (well, his music). As long as he is acting like a clown on youtube, i don't think thats very likely.

ok hang on a minute Xpose on hip hop? :)

thats grand because we do clearly have a different perspectives. but check yourself bud because jayz's last album was trash and if anyone is going to be on xpose it would be sucker for love jayz and the woman that keeps his career relevant beyonce.

and for the record i would agree with you 50's new music is awful but so is jayz's and also what about all the phony threats jay gave nas or most recently chris brown lol ... and everyone laughed at him because jay aint known for that, chap even let lil mama run up on him:D
