Going to Krakow with 11 friends at the end of March and need an apartment to fit us all in!

I found this one and think it may be the one for us as it says 'hen and stag partys welcome' !!
I have been quoted around €630 for 3 nights.

Just want to ask people who have visited Krakow before:

Is this a reasonable price for 12 people sharing an apartment?
    Is the location decent?

The location is good. I'd say ten minutes would be on the outside of how long it would take you to the Rynek from there.
It's also an easy enough walk (maybe 15 mins) from the train station where you will come in from the airport, unless you get taxis.

location is fine, from there its about 10 minutes walk to the square where all the nightlife and restaurants are and about 10 minutes walk to the big shopping centre (can't remember the name) and the railway station just behind it

    price seems about average

We paid €22 a night per person for a 2 bedroom/4bed apartment so the price seems proportionally the same.
It was roughly the same street as you (actually that Krowelska St just to the left of you on the map) and the location was perfect.

Sounds a good deal, fairly rare to see apartments actively encouraging stags/hens/party atmosphere etc so I'd take it if I were you.

Yeah think I mite go for it! Just hope it isn't a dump.

Thanks for all ye're help. Rossie those Old City Apartments look lovely but most seem to discourage people who would use the apartments for anything other than 'relaxing after sightseeing' :p

Spurious, will I get a train from the airport? Are they easy to come by? Would a taxi cost much from the airport or should I avoid getting taxis at all when in Krakow?

While I am not Spurious, I feel qualified to answer this one as well :). Trains run frequently, are very cheap and take you directly from the airport to the central train station. The way from the terminal to the train is clearly marked. The only thing you have to remember is to get out a few złoty at an ATM at the airport as you will need that to pay for your train tickets.

You can take a taxi as well of course and it should not be very dear. But when visiting Eastern Europe, you should really give public transport a try. You will not believe the difference in how well it is organized and how smoothly it runs. Taxis are there mostly for those who come from the West and do not know any better. Anyone who has been to Eastern Europe before will realize public transport is just as efficient and much cheaper.

Enjoy Kraków, it is a wonderful spot.

The other thing to remember about the train from the airport is that sometimes there is a big difference in the level of the platform and the level of the train.
Tight skirts might be an issue when getting off. It's all part of the charm of Poland. :)

Just on the taxi thing, if you'd like the name of a reliable driver, I can give you one. PM me if you want.

Be careful when you come out of the train station as there will be guys with TAXI signs over to your left across a pedestrian bridge. They will rip you off big style. If you want a taxi, go through the Galeria Krakowska shopping centre and get a taxi from the real rank.

    You'll love Krakow, it's a great spot.

Thanks for all the helpful replies!

    More questions :)

The AAA apartments people have offered me an airport transfer for 200PLN (which I'm aware is about 50quid) should I take this? That will work out as just under a fiver per person which can't be bad and would be dead handy with such a large group (I've travelled on trains in Belgium with this group and it's lucky no one was killed :p)

And do ye know of any good pub crawls ye could suggest?

    I found this one:
    http://krakow.where2b.org/pubcrawl

    think it looks good enough...
Would like to be with others aswell as our group.

    Thanks again lads.

with luggage and everything i would go with the taxi, to get the train from the airport you first have to get a free bus (located outside the arrivals hall) to bring you to the platform, between all the hassle or arriving in a new place etc i would go with a taxi given that its a big group

on the pub crawl, there are loads of bars in and around market square just try to sample as many as possible would be my suggestion, friday and saturday nights is packed with people, sunday is quiet and nearly everything is closed by 12am :(

if you gals drink beer then you have to get the giant beer thingys i saw in a few bars in krakow, had to take a photo of one
