I had to miss the last one I'd signed up for due to work. Now I want to get back in the saddle but i can't find any coming up in Dublin in the next 2 or 3 months. Does anyone know of anything I may be missing?

Cupid's Dash in February, or the Great Ireland Run in April?

There's also the Raheny 5 in about 2 weeks time if you wanted to do a 5-miler at the end of the month.

I think i'd need more training than I've had recently for the 5 miler or the Cupids Dash. The Great Ireland Run looks good but something from the end of Feb before it would be great :-)

The Cupids Dash is not a fast one so you won't be left behind, by that I mean a lot of people take it slower, not that its an especially slow course. The course is the same as what the Aware one was before Christmas so no telling if they may change it at the last minute to another random distance.

whats the cupids dash like organisation wise? after the aware disaster im trying to chose races more carefully, and its between that and the my sport 10k in enniscourthy.

If you're worried about organisation don't do it. I ran it last year and it wasn't very well organised considering plus the entry fee is toppish at €25. The chip timing didn't work either so most people didn't get their race time. There's probably an old thread on here somwhere about it.

After saying all that I might still run it this year as I don't fancy driving to Enniscorthy and I want to get a race in soon! I will check out Newry, as per TJC's post, as well though..

thanks rigal, exactly what i was worried about. i ll prob do enniscourthy as i hear its well organised but i ll check out the newry one too. what sort of time would you be hoping for, for the 10k given your not long back? have you raced a 10k before?

Last year was their first time organising the Cupids Dash. There were some issues with the timing and I seem to remember the results they eventually came up with were pretty rubbish and only listed the first 100 finishers or something daft like that.

They did at least do the correct course though, and I have a soft spot for it as it was my first sub 40 10k.

There is a chance the Navan 10K postponed from 26th Dec may be on this weekend. Will post if I get confirmation.

I did it in 44:19 last year so hope to beat that. I'd be pretty happy with sub 44 given I'm not in great shape.

good stuff, im not sure what to expect havent done 10k and i reckon it will be a tough distance to get strategy re pacing right. hopefully i could run 42:30 but we ll see how the raheny 5 goes first, any plans to do that?

What times (-ish) do the winners of some of these 10k runs do? Sub-44m is pretty damn impressive in my eyes, I'm only just managing to break the sub-60m at the moment! I've a way to go yet, then again, I'm still carrying about 1. stone!!!

Sub. 35 would have you in with a shout.. I guess the important thing to remember is that these races are usually for all levels and only a small percentage of runners will ever register a sub 35 10k.

Stupidly impressive times compared to what I'm used to/capable of at the moment!! Wow!! I'll just plug away at project de-bulk!
