With the amount of marketing this auction has received, and based on the crowds seen at other liquidation auctions recently, I would doubt many bargains will be seen for the mainsteam stuff at least

07 2.5 S80 is a very nice motor but buyers of them secondhand might be thin on the ground, so I guess on a good day if not many others are happy to bid to retail price, you might see one for circa 18k

You thinking of buying one? You have your own oil business?

    I'd guess around 10 - 12, but that's a guess.

We have one on fleet which is going out as a long term rental - currently stands us close to €19k.

Lovely cars to drive, as long as it's someone else's fuel you are using. Not very fast (even though it's 210bhp), but very smooth and comfortable.

Just before Christmas I filled ours up for the boss to take. Got to the fuel station with 50km to empty. Filled the tank to the brim, took €75 of petrol - trip showed 450km to empty!

I'd say 8-9k max, they're not even close to the same league as a Merc S320/500 though OP. Personally I'd buy a BMW 530d or even a 730d if you don't mind paying the rip-off road tax.

They're not intended to be. They are a 5 Series rival.

What is it that you hold BMW's in such a high regard? I bet you actually have no experience whatsoever of the current S80, yet alone know what it looks like, seeing as you seem to think that Volvo are owned by Renault these days.

I'd say that could be one of the few bargins at an auction at present, basically a car that very few will want due to the associated running costs. Most of the green horns who frequent these auctions at the moment looking for a bargin will be falling over themselves outbidding each other for 1.4 litre Golfs and the likes.

That would be alot of car for 8-9k, if it goes that cheap my dad will be a happy man, jez, an 07 S80 2.5 turbo auto leather worth the same as the retail price of an 07 Almera!!!!!!

2 words come to mind, Night & Day!

    At a guess I'd imagine 10 = 12k.

If you're interested you certainly will be getting a hell of a lot of car. Anything under €14k would be reasonable.

I've been looking at a few of these recently. There isn't a hope in hell you'll get a 2007 S80 for 10k or anything near it. That'll go for over 20k.

I put Volvos in the same league as Renault, they stuck on my forecourt as long as any Renault, depreciated just as much and gave almost as much trouble as them. I've had a few S80s through my hands, older and newer, and they left me cold tbh, I've only been dealing in cars for the last 20 years or so:rolleyes:. As regards BMW, I've owned pretty much the whole range at one time or another and never had any stupid problems with them like some of the popular makes around here.

Relax with the laughter, I don't want to spend 20k on one. I looked at a couple because I thought like some people on here that they'd be the forgotten car that no one wants, hoping to pay less than 10 for one, but not a hope. 17k in a garage as pointed out above, but I reckon the auction (as also stated by another poster, but no one laughed at him for some reason) will get 20 for it, rarely are there any good deals at auctions in this country. Either the car is a dog or it sells for too much because people think they're getting a bargain.
