    Hi all,

sry if this has been asked before, searched but could not find any info

does anyone know if DTT is receivable in Maynooth. Also what are the frequencies the Irish channels are broadcast on? tried a search but got squat! I bought a MPEG4 DTT dongle to see if its worthwhile buying a STB!

    Cheers
    M5

You're probably served by Kippure, the DTT channels are 54, 58,61, 64.

If you're searching by frequency, look for the main RTE mux on ch. 54 which is 735.25 Mhz.

Did a scan yesterday but got nothing at all, beginning to doubt that the unit is Mpeg 4 compatible. Have my cheapo box arriving on Monday, so fingers crossed! Anyone have reception locally?

Try 738Mz instead of 735.25 Mhz.

When you get the Sagem box don't worry about frequencies or channels, just plug in your aerial and let it do an auto scan.

Got a signal, seems that a wall is blocking the sig! 738 Mhz is the correct frequency! cheers to all for the advice!

Where did you get the MPEG4 DTT dongle.

And also, what dongle did you get?
I did the same and picked up an Avermedia 815 from Komplett
Just got it today and trying here tonight.
It definitely works alright, but the signal is terrible
    Assume fog would affect it??

I'm in Mullingar and trying for Cairn Hill

I used this, 20 quid delivered

    http://cgi.ebay.ie/New-Digital-USB-DVB-T-HDTV-TV-MPEG-4-2-H264-AAC-V2_W0QQitemZ270519389342QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item3efc364c9e#ht_2575wt_859

Signal was fine, just need to lift the antenna above the height of my back wall. Really bought the dongle with the view of buying a HD STB so basically just to see if it works!

Mullingar will be on another transmitter i would imagine

Kept trying it and getting 100% signal now using the mini antenna that came with it.
Had same issue as yourself. Needed to rise it above the back wall. Once I did that it worked perfect, so at least I know theres excellent signal here now for an STB

does the irish dtt work in maynooth with my rabbit ears internal aerial?

I dont know , having never been in your house . :D:D

Have you got a mpeg4 receiver?

if so plug it in and try.

Rabbit ears are unlikely to work. Slightly better antenna and you'll get solid signal. Had DTT here since the trials (off 3Rock) and again since I got an MPEG4 TV quite a while ago (3R and Kippure).

did the aerial have a loop \0/ on it or was it a vhf \/ type?

    its a cheap argos one

I have tried the loop \0/ aerial "One for All" aerial and it works OK but sometimes the picture breaks up. I still think long term an external aerial is the answer.

Attic aerial working fine for me near Clane. ~90+% signal & 100% Quality. 48 element wideband aerial bought off Saortv.
Far easier & safer to fit than External aerial.

how do we instal this attic aerial?
just buy one from the shop
    put it in the attic
do we have to run the cable from attic to tv? :-(

    yes, you need a cable.

Use satellite cable as the better screening reduces interference.
