I was 'hacked' last night

Last night I'm playing Search with my friends and there is this kid on the other who we get into an argument with. He says he can hack my account. I laugh it off even jokingly saying 'Would it be easier if I just gave you my e-mail address and password' (he said yes  )

He goes to get his laptop and sends me a message that looked something like this 'IP HACK: 2934-3844-5967-4456 (don't know the numbers)

He told me to sign out and sign back in and my profile would be gone. Next break in the game we went back to the party and I signed out and when I signed back in, nothing was different :D

Anyway, I take it that this is impossible to do from a laptop? This kid (said he was 12, but sounded a couple of years older) claimed he worked for microsoft and got his friend to come in and say that he takes people's credit card details and buys stuff with it :D

I kind of agree here. It sounds like he's full of crap. But why were you even bothering to entertain him? I mean that is like sending your credit card to someone in Nigeria, assuming they are spoofing, and then getting worried afterwards about whether something might go wrong.

I got a PM saying the guy was going hack me, not sure why though, think it was something to do with a hardcore S&D match, anyway I just addded him to my block list, problem solved. Also it was on PS3.

There is absolutley no way he could get your ip. All clients connect into the iwnet servers as a kind of proxy, then conenct from iw to the host. He's just a mouthy 12 year old kid, you should have just told him how much you enjoy plowing his auld wan then blocked him and left.

If you host on the pc then you have full access to both the ip's and current open ports. But the amount of people who actually know what to do with these is minuscule. You stand more chance of being attacked in your sleep by a rabid hamster.

haha, tbh I was just curious, me and my friends get into random slagging matches with all of the gimps online and it was only a bit of fun. When we left that game my friend who was hosting said that he wasn't starting the game 'til I tried it so I was actually not stupid but very smart ;)

    Xbox btw

I challenge you to find the IP of anyone your playing against on the pc Cuddlesworth. You wont get it as all the incomming connections (if you are the host) come from the iwnet server which acts as a proxy. However, a case has been seen where a virus can be uploaded to the iwnet server and than distributed that way. it happened just after launch, and was patched quickly.

I'd love to be proven wrong on this, as it will show another ****up on IW behalf.

Actally its quite easy to get ip addresses from mw2 but however hacking ip's is limited to damage you can do unless he sends you a dl link or a virus but i really doubt he did.

Its up on modernwarfail.com. Iwnet doesn't act as a proxy because it would slow down ping times even more. It is possible to use Modernwarfare as a starting point for hacking machines.

I have already checked the logs on my router and they are correct. When joining or hosting a game I receive and send multiple connections from/to various ip addresses.
