Would anyone know if the amp in the attached picture needs an external power source to power it? I can't figure it out?

It does but power is provided by satellite receiver along the coax.

    Thanks.
It's just the DC part confused me, I thought that meant it needed an external power source as some of the other inline amps don't have the DC part on them.

The output of the satellite receiver is DC, 13/18v

So, to confuse things even more!! Does that mean the IN side should be connected to the cable from the receiver, to inject the power? Or does the IN take the cable from the LNB?

Looks like the "in" side should indeed be the cable coming from receiver.

The arrows suggest one-way power pass. Basically, teh arrows will be pointing to the cable feeding the dish.
