    Hi,

Looking to get some potentially serious work done on my amazon.

I had intended to travel to see the guy who runs overland-cruisers in the UK but it seems a bit of overkill and I've been trying to book him for 4 months now.

I reckon it's running a bit to rough and there's a worrying deep knocking coming from it. Also some rattling pulleys, valve clearances, injector overhaul etc etc. Basically want her sounding like shes pretty much new.

Anyone know of any good diesel (pref Toyo) experts in the East? I will be giving AD Dublin a call but I think they only specialise in the diesel delivery aspect (pump, injectors etc).

    Cheers,

Have the big ends been done? The early 4.2 (91,92)gave some trouble with big ends but they are easy enough to do.

Carrol and kinsella in Sandyford industrial estate are pretty good they are toyota dealers but this is there service department , Just make sure you get a quote off them as they can be pricey .

Hi CJ. Nah, I don't think they've been done. It does sound big endish too. Mines an 00 though. It's only got 88k miles on it with regular servising so there won't be too much wrong with it, just a bit of tightening up I expect.

Any ideas? I'm staying away from main dealers - they don't have much knowledge of these vehicles in my experience. Derek Burton seems to be focussing on sales and small service and more or less brushed off the job.

you could try High precision in tullow> they have full bosc service and diagnostic centre but mightnt be far off main dealer prices. They tend to be able to handle quirky stuff.

HPMP in Tullow is where I would go, they give great service, and I never find the price to be over the top, although I do all the monkey work before and after, like stripping down an engine and re assembling it, but, any engine work I want done I send it down to them,

However it might be worth bringing it to a small independant garage or that first, get a proper diagnosis, a 00 one is not overally complicated in todays terms, a good mechanic should be able to tell you exactly what needs to be done, or if something is wrong

    Thanks Lads.

Re: small independent garage, I would normall go to Burtons but they reckon the engine is grand. However their idea of grand and mine is obviously different. I plan on keeping it a long time and want the engine in tip top shape. I am incredibly hard to please when it comes to my cars like many on here I presume.
I don't have a good local indy mechanic that has the same standards as myself so still on the lookout. If I get the engine sorted then I am good to go with servicing it and looking after suspension etc myself.

Going to call HPMP today and see if they can slot me in soon.

    Cheers,
