Just a reminder, this airs in the US tonight, on Sky One next week.
Season Eight will unfold in New York City amidst the shadows of the Statue of Liberty and the United Nations. In this new day, CTU has been upgraded and is run by MBA-schooled and razor-sharp head honcho Brian Hastings (Williamson, "Forrest Gump").

Very excited about this, only a few hours away, nearly tempted to stay up and watch it, but I think I'll wait until tomorrow.

I've avoided spoilers too, so it should be good.

Good opener, a little bit slow at times but I really like how the plot is a lot more scaled down and not about WMD's but an assassination just like the first season, which was, IMO, the best. Cant wait for the next 2 tonight.

Have seen one and two (no spoilers) I can say that it is off to a good start.
There is the immediate characters that you know are just plain stupid and don't deserve to be in the jobs they hold.
(I constantly have to ask the question, how the heck did they get them in the first place if they are that stupid, as they clearly are!)

There is the usual whining from Chloe O'Brien and the strange faces to go along with it. Every time alone I hear her whine "jack" I want to slap her.
I think from what certain characters have said to another, one of the eventual outcomes is sticking out like a mile - but I'm sure there will be many twists and turns for them and other characters (there already is as in part 2) before we get there.

    Looking forwards to part three.

I like that Anneka Rice lookalike but I do not like how she has a hidden identity. I can see it leading to blackmail which will interfere with her job.

Yeah, it'll turn out that she's actually a Viper Pilot from Galactica called Starbuck with a penchant for disobeying senior officers.

But seriously, good opener to the season. Looking forward to it now, the new tech should come in handy, particularly those drone thingies. Once Chloe gets used to the new systems, there'll be no stopping her an Jack.

But I think the point was that all this new tech isn't a match for good old human thought. It seemed like they were really putting a bad light on all the new tech and it cost two agents their lives,Chloe is better than a machine etc.

speaking of Chloe,if anyone talked to their boss like that they would be kicked up the arse and thrown out the door, despite the new boss being an idiot.

decent start though, interesting the brother being the one trying to kill him.

Same sh*te, different day (pardon the pun).

Horrendous opening two episodes. At this stage Im only going to watch this season (maybe) cos Ive seen all past 7 series. When you compare it to the pace of shows of Dexter and Chuck it just doesnt hold up anymore.

I pray this is the last year for Jack.

...I pray this is the last year for Jack.
I believe it will be ...and judging by what was said between he and his daughter (before her husband and daughter head to airport from CTU) in Episode two, the makers are already laying the ground-work for that.

I really liked it. Unlike previous seasons it seemed more about building the story than blowing **** up.

I dont like the new CTU ( theres fried shrimp, boiled shrimp) leader, i suspect it will be the whole " Bad leader gets replaced" story with him.

Oh I hope walker comes back into it soon, she is a ride :D
Jack killing your man with the axe was fúcking deadly

    Axe-arific !!!!!!!!!

Let's hope Jack keeps the body count nice and high this season, he only managed 25 kills last season

I enjoyed the first two alright and look forward to the rest of the season. I do think though that the new CTU offices look way to corporate, not exactly what would be rocking for a government agency.

I love the way he's all sweetness and light at the beginning and as soon as there's a gun in his hand he immediately goes psycho.

    He's my new Horatio Caine.

I wouldn't go quite so far but i'd agree mostly. We're shaping up for the most contrived season of 24 yet if it continues like these 2 opening episodes. I'm all for informants dying just before they get to tell Jack the vital information but we don't need one every few episodes... :pac:

All the new cast members are welcome esp trailer trash starbuck :)

The axe scene was the standout one for me. Very Jason Bourne.

I'm hoping now everything is laid out for us we'll get a good story with good old Jack action. Onward to eps 3&4.

    3/5

How bloody hot is Katee Sackhoff in a work dress?

Great to see it back. I think it slowed mid-episode 2. Nice to see other stroyarcs already developing rather then just the assassination attempt . Nice to see CTU NY, where is HQ?

They should really write in Mandy at some stage this season :)

Just watched this last night. I though that 4pm-5pm was a little disappointing. It wasn't really what I was expecting.

Slightly annoyed that they never gave any details as to how Jack was able to survive. I know Kim did some sort of stem cell thing or whatever it was but they never really went back on it.

The last ten minutes or so of the first episode was quite good. The shootout and the helicopter explosion.

5pm - 6pm was better. I enjoyed the start of it when they're attempting to halt the journalist whom they believe to be an assassin. I was actually on the edge of my seat shouting at my tv saying "hurry up and get her". :)

CTU has gotten the Windows 7 gloss it seems. It is kinda funny to see Chloe struggling but I can almost guess that later on in the season, there'll be a problem that only Chloe will be able to do by doing it the old fashioned way.

I wonder what the story is with that blonde one in CTU. I only hope it's not disappointing.

Also, when Chloe and Jack were under the assumption that the reporter's computer may have been tampered with, did anybody else automatically think that the man on the inside was Hassan's brother?

Very predictable stuff but I'll continue to watch it. The first episode wasn't great but the second picked up a bit.

I did! It's his floppy hair, it was obviously hiding something.

Decent episodes, same old stuff though. I'll continue to watch, since most seasons of 24 start similarly and it gets more interesting as the plots come together.

Just watched the first hour and started watching the second hour now. Great start, i love how we're thrown straight into it.

    1.Jack's granddaughter is so cute!
    2. Weird seeing Katee Sackhoff being so girly. I'm also looking forward to the development of her and Freddie's relationship.
    3. It'll take a few episodes for me not to see Hassan in Slumdog Millionaire mode!
    4. Don't like how they're making Chloe seem incompetent in the new CTU.
    5. Jack's all better!

    So happy 24's back!!!!!!!!
