    Change the root 27 to 3 to the power of 3.
    Then you can forget the bases, so its 2x + 1 = 3, 2x = 2, x =1.

    the thing to remember about all these indices questions (indices means powers) is to have the base number the same which in this case would be three. Also remember a square root is a power of a half. Once the bases are the same, then you can put the powers equal.
    They always look difficult but follow the same pattern the whole time and are fairly predictable at OL
