LG surround sound system, without DVD Player.

My brother has given me his LG surround sound speakers, but he kept the DVD Player part of it. Does anyone know if I can hook it up to my own Dvd player, or the NTL digital box? Problem is that the wires going from the speakers, are bare wires... no scart to connect. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
