I recently had install Windows 7 on my Acer Aspire 5920 from scratch as i had wiped the hard drive. Now when i transfer files onto my usb flash drive its painfully slow. The flash drive is ok another computer. Is my problem a driver related issue? Any ideas of what type of driver type download? Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
For the USB its the Chipset Driver you need to download and install for that model of computer/motherboard.....usually.
There may not be a Windows 7 compatible one available but if there is one for Vista it SHOULD work.

W7 probably installed a close a match from its own drivers that it could and this may not be the best option.

Hmmm....let me just check and see if there are any settings in 7 that could be slowing it down, off hand I dont think there but am not that familiar with 7 yet.

By the way, what size is the USB drive and is there any encryptions software on it?

Your first link helped a lot Kippy. In Device Manager > Disk drives, right-click the USB drive
    select Properties > Policies tab
    choose Optimize for performance
    Click OK to keep it,

Speed now starting at 17mb/sec reducing to 3.5mb/sec which is better than before. Thanks Bud! :D

    Good stuff.....
Its strange how its still slow.
I for one have no such problems.
I did a fresh install of 7 on a HP laptop.
Based on what I've read in those and other links, it does seem to be an issue on some machines.
