Could anybody recommend me a physio? preferably in the Ballsbridge or city centre area and one who deals a lot with runners (or runs themselves).

Caitríona Ní Shé in Milltown physio is very good and is a runner - bit far out I know.

Check out Sports Med Ireland(Kildare Street) otherwise they're really good out there.

Peter Mathews in SportsMed Ireland does deep tissue massage for athletes of all levels. He has represented Ireland at International level as a Cross Country runner.:)

O'Neill sports clinic in UCD - 5min drive from Ballsbridge.

Last week for the first time I went to a physio, usually when injured I just rest up for a bit and and things come right eventually, but when running in the snow and ice a few weeks a go I damaged my ankle (not a fall, just runnning on uneven ground) after 10 days of no running and worrying about getting the milage in for the Conn Ultra I deceided to go (on recommendation of a friend) to the O'Neill sports clinic in UCD. So far they seem quite good, were able to identify the damaged area quickly even though I had aches and pains in other areas due to limping around for 10 days. Cost was €50 for 1/2 hr session but they spent at least 45 mins with me.

Only gripe I have is paying €5 /hr for parking.

Sports Med in Kildare Street. Game, set and match.

Side Note: In my opinion always beware of people who say they work (have worked) with olympic/professional/elite athletes when many times they may have just given them a rub once. However, in Sports Med any claims like these are true.

Have to second the sportsmed recommendation(in fact I think it was you Tingle who recommended them to me, so thanks for that). Its a top notch operation and they wont just throw orthotics at you and tell you that you should come back again next week and the week after and the week after for more financially draining assessments.

This is my first message so hi everybody.

I'm myself a long distance runner and I've tried introducing my gf into running but she has had a coming and going pain in the knee for the last year.
I want to find a sports clinic where they can do a full exam of what's wrong with her knee. I don't want just a physio, but a sports doctor that can send her to be X-rayed if she needs to, or similar tests. We've already tried a physio here with no luck.

I'm not irish and I'm not fully aware of how the health system works here, but if you suspected that you needed your knee to be x-rayed, where would you go?

Anywhere in Dublin is fine, although I prefer city centre.

I suppose somewhere like the sports surgery clinic would be best for that, but a decent physio should refer you to them if they think you would need it anyway.

That being said, any GP can refer you to a hospital for a x-ray if you ask them to.

A massage in SportsMed Ireland is €65 for around 45 mins or so. I use them regularly and I have seen Olympic Athletes there on many occasions training or getting treatments/massage.

It's in the about us section of the website. Think i'll go to them as I've a slight pain in my left knee it's not stopping me from running (at the moment)

Had my Physio session today with Sports Med found them very professional and very knowledgeable also.

Only downside is I've to stop running for a week or so - going back next week. Plenty of exercises to keep me busy until then.
