A Few Questions To Help Me Out

    Like most Irish people, I went through twelve years of school Irish and could barely say my name when I came out. I'm trying to remedy that now and am concentrating on spoken Irish rather than text. I've been working with the Rosetta Stone software and finding it quite useful, but I have a few questions. I suspect some of the language it uses is a little dated and I wonder if more fluent speakers could help me out.

    The software translates 'telephone' as 'guthán', 'car' as 'gluaisteán' and says that one should address people as 'an tUasal', which sounds extraordinarily courtly to my Dublin ears. On the other hand, I do find I'm beginning to follow (a little) more closely conversations on RnaG and TG4, although I'm only getting the barest bones of them. Does anyone have any opinions on Rosetta Stone?

    have heard mixed reviews of rosetta stone to be honest, there's absolutely nothing wrong with gluaisteán, guthán, or even An tUasal (in the right context)
