There was a lad on our football team a few years back, surname Mackessy. We were getting customised jersies for a trip away with nicknames for everyone on the back. Couldn't think of anything for the bauld Mackessy, until someone came up with the genius nickname "Pad."

Took a while for the penny to drop but genius nonetheless.

    Can anyone beat that?

Your post totally undermines the title of the thread.

Pretty impractical nickname in fairness. One or two word is best, I find.

Worst example I can find is that we called a wheelchair-bound lad in school Boxcar Willie. He actually acquiesced and found it funny but I still feel a little bad...

Pad ... Mackessy.... I really don't see it. Any clues?

    Mackessy pad!!

That's only the beginning stages of a great nickname. Pad isn't neither here nor there, it has no storey to it. It needs to evolve into calling him something like pissflaps or blob.

Never heard of that before but if you guys had it really shouldn't have taken that long to come up with it

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test
