armstrong streched the legs and looked cool in the new kit.

Don't think Eurosport will be covering this if Sky have it. Eurosport are also showing wall to wall Australian Open Tennis this week, so I suspect they don't have capacity in their schedule anyway.

its on sky, live tonight from midnight, i have it on +

oh, and if anyone wants to know the result of the first "stage" if you can call it that
Team Sky made a dream start to 2010 as Greg Henderson and Chris Sutton made it a one-two in the Cancer Council Helpline Classic in Adelaide, we wont hear the end of this on sky sports news now

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 76 ✭✭Davemcfar

Dont have sky sports - do sky operate a player? as in pay for a month and see it live on line?

actually, if you have xbox live i think they have a skyplayer

Yeah 2am for me too, and only 30 minutes of coverage/highlights, whatever it is they are showing.

You still need an account to use the sky player either online or on xbox I think, it just allows you to watch it without having to be on a TV/sky box combo. I must stress the "I think" though, as I haven't yet set either one up.

    25mins highlights

Thanks for that! I saw it earlier anyway but just looking at it again there (just the first minute to see if it was the same thing) I spotted something mad. Look at 24-25seconds, the (Rabobank) rider who gets second in the sprint is flying along with just one foot clipped in looking like superman! Madness :p

Sky still don't seem to want to cover an entire race, at least not until saturday, very annoying. But then you wouldn't want cycling to interfere with 2 hours of WWE or 4.5 hours of cricket:

Charity Special highlights just started on Sky Sports 4 (bet you didn't know there was a SS4 - I certainly did not!) - Channel 404

pissed off at Sky, they had in our their guide that it was on from 2am until 11am this morning, i recorded that puppy, only to wake up and see it was only the half hour highlights, and then 5 hours of the ****ty Ab roller adds

coverage is crap ,the BMC and shack kit is very alike in the peloton .hard to get a feel for the race with only a half hour highlights

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,505 ✭✭✭✭DirkVoodoo

Yup, it feels like someone is sitting there flicking channels while I'm watching. Ah the race is starting...oh now an attack....oh, the break away has split up on a climb....oh now it's a sprint for the finish line. Plus it's 30 minutes minus the ads, minus the pre-race report, minus pre-race interviews, minus post-race interviews.

    But at least it's something.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 455 ✭✭Dave11

I agree its better then nothing but what will happen is people will stop watching it cause it's such poor coverage. Sky will look at the viewing figures and think 'F**k this' and that will that for Sky....

I say lets hammer them with emails about how poor it is and how it needs to improve!!! Anyone on for it??

Just watched stage 1...Roll on Paris-Nice!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 112 ✭✭ColSheehan

Just watched the first Stage highlights, seemed okay to watch, was looking forward to seeing what actually happened when the peloton got split up with most of the riders. I heard one of the lads hit a reflector in the road and thats all I heard. Pity it wasn't caught on camera (or maybe it was)

Looking forward to the other stages, would be nice to see what happens in the sprints for the next few stages (the 1st stage sprint replay was brilliant)

I can already picture this years headlines:

    Cavendish Vs. Greipel,Clash of the titans,World War 3 :P

    Reporter:So who's the better sprinter:

Cav: "lt's hard to say blah blah we both have very different techniques..Andrei focuses more on his power output at 150 metres blahblahblah.."

Don't think it's a Sky production. I'm pretty sure it's the American channel Versus that make the program and Sky just buy it off them.

Watched an hour of the sky coverage last night.

Race was brilliant, the actual race commentary was pretty good (Phil Liggett and some other chap).

I felt a bit sorry for Chris Boardman in the surprisingly cheap looking sky studio. The host was obviously trying to introduce people to cycling which was fair enough, lots of "why isn't wiggins here?", "Everyone on the team has different jobs, right Chris?", but it was basically a team sky promo. This is fine to a degree, I mean it is there team and their channel, they are a new team, but if this continues all year it's going to really leave new viewers clueless to the world of cycling and simply there to cheer on team sky. For everyone else it is just going to be very annoying, no other team information, no discussion of tactics (unless it is how sky can win).

Shock, maybe this is what they want?

agree the commentary isn't bad. the host in the studio doesn't seem to have a clue though. how many times does he need to look at his sheet of paper to remember greipel's name? overall i can see sky annoying me more and more - a bit like stuart barnes and sky rugby

I think the commentators weren't just Sky's, they seemed to be the the commentators the host broadcaster had. A few times after the commercials an australian voice handed it over to the coms. I do agree thet they were good.
