Kelly - Axis - opinions

I am getting a bike under the Bike to Work scheme.
Saw a Kellys Axis which I liked but can find very little by way of info or reviews about it on the net.
I will only be doing 8 miles a day and maybe the odd 10 miles cycle at the weekends so don't need anything too fancy or pricey.
Any feedback on the Kelly brand and the Axis model?

    Hi,

I have this exact bike but I'm not sure if it's the 08 or 09 model. I bought it last summer just to get me back into cycling after not being on a bike for years.

I haven't got much to compare it to apart from the 3.5 ton mountain bike that I used to ride ten years ago but I really like it and do regular 20 - 30 mile spins on it with no ill effects. I'm no expert on specs, wheels, tyres or anything else but everything works fine and has done since the day I bought it.

Like yourself, I found it impossible to find any details or reviews anywhere on Kelly's Bicycles apart from their own website which although impressive doesn't give that much information.

My suggestion is, if you like it and it fits you, then buy it and forgot about brand snobbery. I'm certainly happy with mine, and at the moment am presently drooling over one of their road bikes to add to my stable.

Thanks Pointer. It fits grand so think I will get it. For all the cycling I do it will do the job.

    Hi Babaracus,

Sounds like a wise decision to me. I spent weeks agonising over different bikes, groupsets etc and all I did was upset and confuse myself without knowing what any of it meant.

I then went into one of the smaller bike shops in my locality, saw it, liked the look of it, had a quick spin round the car park, quick run to the ATM and bought it 5 minutes later.

I also cycle mine around local forest roads, canal paths etc but I wouldn't go as far as any serious mountain biking.

I know a lot of people don't like the bar ends, and I didn't see the point of them myself at first but now I'm used to them it gives you a lot more hand positions for comfort.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, highly recommended.
