More media fud from the "Gibson Research Corporation". It's a shame grcsucks.com is gone. I wouldn't really rate Steve Gibson as a particularly useful computer security source.

Whatever about Gibson’s credentials / motivation, he and the ABA are stating the obvious. If your PC is infected with intelligently crafted malware, it is no longer your PC. It is the hacker’s PC, to do with as s/he wishes.

And if you use it (a compromised pc) to perform banking transactions and use a dumb bank as custodian of your cents, your bank account is no longer your bank account. It is the hacker’s bank account.

As 30 million odd Germans found out on 1.1.2010 – when the “millennium bug” hit their EMV bank cards ten years after the event. They couldn’t pay hotel bills, restaurants, shops, for trains, flights, etc etc virtually anywhere in the world. They were without plastic money. Not a hacking issue - but all to do with the reality of the moment when you can't meet your financial obligations because of malware, negligence or incompetence of somebody or some entity.

Your point was "media FUD" (fear, uncertainty and doubt). Not logic nor his stating the obvious.
