    Found this spider out side while cleaning up.

    Anyone know what species? It was quite a fat spud.

    It looks like a false black widow but i dont think we have them in Ireland.

    I was cleaning up some old flower pots, put my hand into one and felt fairly strong web. And under the web was that bugger.

    It looks like a Steatoda, a false black widow.

    Yes, we do have them in Ireland, definitely the Steatoda grossa (I've surprised quite a few in the garden shed), and I'd guess that yours is the Steatoda Bipunctata. Well, maybe!

    A most interesting spider, it can and does bite, but the reaction is normally mild enough. :)
    Just don't make him angry!
