I have a bintone external oil burner and it wont fire up. The electrodes are firing but there seems to be no kerosine reaching the nozzel. I have kerosene going into the rotary pump but nothing coming out. Also I when the burner usually fires up you can here the motor but there is no sound at all bar the electrodes. Would this be a capacitor problem. Also there is a coil and solenoid on the rotary pump, as far as I know the coil should be magnitised to open the solenoid but it does not seem to be. I have had alot of expenses over the last few weeks and can't really afford to call someone yet. Any help would be great.

If it were the capacitor, nothing would happen, you would hear a very slight hum. Try tapping it.

The coil won't energise unless the motor starts. Test coil by removing from pump and putting a metal screw driver throw it, you will feel the magnetic draw.

Tried tapping it and nothing happened, i also took the coil off and did exactly that and it was not magnitised, I didn't know that the coil only energised when the motor starts, that narrows it down to the motor then. There is a slight hum from it, and as I said the electrodes are working, could be the capacitor !!
