Channel 4 mini series (almost certain on the channel)
    Approx 1998-2000

Show is based around this computer game in which the player has to plan and carry out a murder. The protagonist becomes obsessed with the game and with carrying out the perfect murder - staying up all night, reading tonnes of books on the subject, skipping work/college (pretty sure its work...) and so forth. Im pretty sure there were multiple murders, with each one representing a new level

Cant remember how exactly its revealed, but it turns out its not a game, that the picture the player sees comes from someone walking around in real life with a camera and that someone uses his plan to carry out the murder  I think he actually guides the character in the game to his window and see's himself playing... :o

    Random rememberings...
The protagonist has a friend around to show the game to, and while wandering around in the game, the friend spots some hotty working in a shoe shop and says 'why dont you kill her?'

I recall the police also asking him some uncomfortable questions about all the books on murder too

Now this is from when I was 15/16, so could have been absolute garbage, but interested all the same.. any help appreciated! Will update with more stuff as I remember

    That's Killer Net..
Killer Net was a television mini series broadcast on Channel 4 in May 1998. The series is set around the lives of three students living in Brighton and an internet based computer game.

The Show was written and produced by Lynda La Plante , produced by Geoffrey Sax and featured a cast of up and coming actors. One of the main selling points of the series was that it starred Jason Orange of Take That but it was also one of the introductions to the small screen of Paul Bettany.

Location filming for Killer Net was filmed throughout the late Summer of 1997- The registration plate of the MGB used in Killer Net - RBK 488S was issued in August 1997.
I remember enjoying it at the time.. and was tempted to buy it on DVD recently. But I imagine it's aged terribly!
