I know some of these questions have been asked in other threads but just wondering could anyone help me.
Yesterday an electrician friend set my old sky box up in the bedroom by splitting the signal from the aerial through the socket behind the my main tv, up to the attic and into the socket in the bedroom.I seem to have most the free channels on the old box but today and last night some of them have been coming up as 'signal not received' on both my main box and old one, just wondering is this because of recent weather or that the signal wouldnt be as strong because of the job the lad did.
Most channels seem ok but just a few of the free ones not working.
    Any help would be great

you can't split the cable from the satellite dish ...you have to use a twin lnb

or aquad lnb if you have asky dish

Well maybe he didnt split it, he connected the wire from the dish to the socket behind the tv and up to attic and back to tv in bedroom

    Quick Update

Nothing coming up on either box now, just says no signal being recieved, its probably the dish?

I dont understand how you have split it, you cant split a satellite signal. I hope you havent split the feed cable from the box to the dish as it carries 13/18v current and if youve split it and fed it to both receivers i fear youve damaged your system. The only way you can feed 2 boxes from one output on your dish is with the use of a priority switch or manual A/B switch (But you'll only be able to watch 1 receiver at a time)

To feed 2 receivers properly you need a quad or multi output lnb, which then feeds both recievers directly?

I dont know what he did and to be honest im regretting getting it done now. I dont think he would have done anything to harm the system as he has done it a million times and his old man works for sky.
The main box has been fine up to this morning when i plugged it out for a while when i was using the plug.
Could it have anything to do with the weather as it has been very windy here the last few days

Plug out the old box (the one the electrician wired in for you). Does the box you originally had there now work fine?
