3 sats on Triax88

I bought a triax 88 dish, multi lnb bracket and 3 quad lnbs (ill be doing a switching arrangement later). My problem is trying to receive 13e 19e and 28e. I have the pole and dish mounted squarely and pointed at the mid point between. I also have 3 lnbs aligned properly along bracket. If i set the elevation at 21.3 for 28e i cant pick up 13e and if i set elevation to 26 for 13e i loose 28e. The midpoint on the elevation causes high BER or signal loss on outside lnbs. Any ideas?

    PS
i think it may have something to do with dish skew, am i right? If so which way would the dish rotate? The pole mount and dish bracket dont seem to have this facility.

For a multisystem Lnb setup you need to reverse the order of the lnbs for example you would normally be 28 to the left the 19 then 13...if looking at dish from the back.

However what you need to do is put the lnbs in the opposite direction so 13 would be on the left then 19 then 28 when looking at the dish from the back.

You will need to align the dish on a sat such as 13degrees and then slide the second lnb until you find 19. I would suggest putting 13 and 19 on the left side and then 28 on the right hand side of the bar.,

Possibly just aligning the dish on 19 east will do the job and then 13 and 28 on either side of that?

Yup, from my experience you are right.
    I have the same setup (13, 19 and 28) on a 80cm dish.
I set the dish up for 19.2 (albeit it being almost the strongest signal), then added 13 (on the east side of the 19 LNB), then the 28 (towards the west side of the 19 LNB) and had to bend the LNB mount by probably 1/2 inch upwards on the 28 side.

I am sure that's not the 'professional' way to install, but it has worked for almost a year so far (and I can't see how to do it otherwise besides mounting the pole at an angle...)

The lnbs are aligned fine. The two outside ones wont lock at a mid point setting because they are too far apart in elevation (about 5 degrees while the dish is mounted squarely).

Yeah i kinda did this but its damaging the holder. Plus its outside the dishes designed focus and is not giving great signal on 13e. I may try centre 13e tomorrow and see what the 28e does as a far offset. Maybe do some "surgical" bracket bending too. :p

28 should be the highest on the bar and 19 the lowest. I usually mount the lnb bar with the screw hole at the bottom to give the maximim angle. 19 goes on the left hand side if you are looking from behind the dishwith 13 on the right and 28 almost at the end of the bar. Think of the dish like a mirror with a torch shining in at an angle.

This is confusing. The lnb bar is level so what do u mean by highest or lowest. As i have said before the lnbs are in the corre t spot for the dish directio i chose (half way tween 13 and 28) i just cant get all 3 to lock because of diference in elevation. Im using a triax 4 lnb bracket with all lnbs mounted on top.

It will not work with the lnb bar level, are you using one of these http://www.satellite.ie/acatalog/triax_multi_lnb_bracket.html ?

No im using a cheapo one with no pivot on centre.

Honestly I do not think that will work here, too much difference in elevation.

Thx for all the prompt and excellent replies. The correct bracket should solve things.

Hi Pelisor2000, what sort of dish is that?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,428 ✭✭✭Dotsie~tmp

OK since hm-sat fuked up and sent me two wrong diseqc switches (correct package though), plus I have no more money for a while I decided to try a bit of bendy bracket fun. It worked very well and I thought that some pics would be in order. All three sats coming in over 90% on the dreambox with zero BER.

I wont tidy everything up until I get my three working diseqc switches. The amount of porno decoding on 19E and 13E is a joke. I now have pretty much every premium service on all 3 sats for the price of one sky sub  I wasnt expecting so much to decode.

You can see why it was never going to work with a level LNB bracket.
