Hi Guys not sure if this is in the right area of boards but can the mods move it to the right place if its not

A girl in work had a baby and i recently noticed that she is wearing the eternity ring on the same fingure as her engagemeant ring and wedding ring. She told me that when you have your first born that the husband/father gets an eternity ring for the wife/ mother.
I have never heard of this, is this true?

I think the eternity ring is traditionally given for a significant anniversary - which can obviously include the birth of a child but could just as easily be for their first anniversary or such-like. :)

Yes, a lot of people give it on the birth of their first child, or else their first anniversary. Others give it on their 10th anniversary, or some for no occasion at all, just because they feel the time is right.

Also a lot of people wear the eternity ring on another finger, because depending on the size/shape of their engagement and wedding ring, it might not suit or be comfortable to wear the eternity ring on the same finger.

Also does the eternity ring have to match what the other two look like the wedding and engagement ring

Nope, it can be whatever you want. Again, it's personal choice.

    ahhhh the push present! :D

Google the history of eternity rings or even look through some of the sticky's here and you will be surprised at what you read. All a big marketing ploy! Not that I'd complaint if a marketing ploy encourages my hubby to buy more jewellery! ;)
