First commerical vehicle - lookin for advice

    Thinking about buying a commerical vehicle. Never bought one before.

    I dont really need one for work reasons - does this make insurance awkward ?

    The road tax is low;
    I've to do a DOE every year;

    Any other major issues I should be aware of before I take the plunge ?

    Would the insurance be that much more expensive than private insurance that it would swallow up the savings in the road tax each year ???

    Can anyone recommend an insurance company/broker who are good for commercial insurance ?

    Also, i'm thinking an older landcruiser SWB or pajero SWB...

    Any advice/comments/criticism? - all welcome:)

    Thanks.

    be aware of fuel consumption. on an older Pajero you're talking early to mid 20's to the gallon, an older Cruiser will be mid 20's.

    Thanks for that. I'd heard the pajeros were pretty bad alright.

    I only have about 5k to spend - which I know is buttons really - just circumstances at the moment.....

    Anything else you'd suggest that would be easier on fuel ?? I've seen a few x-trail commericals that seem quite cheap - even for 05 or 06 ones - they woudn't be too far off my price range.....

    I wouldn't be doing much off-road at all.
