If people have two seconds, can they take a look at this route for me:-

    1) Does any one know if the main road to round wood is fairly clear at this point? I was out upto eniskerry last night and that seemed fine.
    2) Is the coast road back into dublin from wicklow town very busy?

The coast road from wicklow back to greystones is very quite, but the surface is horrible. Its that type of surface that just seems to kill all your momentum. I'm sure other people have a better description.

I'm sure the road to Annamoe will be clear from snow and ice as its quite an important road for tourism but the one from Annamoe to Ashford could still be snowy, its quite and quite high up.

Its a lovely cycle you have planned, I've done it a few times myself. There is a good mix of mountain and coastal scenery.

    Enjoy

The coast road from Ashford to Bray is fine for the most part and is very quite, the surface in Kilcoole was very poor for a long time but I think it was fixed last time I went that way.

Not sure how clear Roundwood is, my brother was driving up there today and there is still some snow at the side of the road. By the road was OK for driving.

The area near Roundwood was on the news last night (backroads), and a local farmer reported that 7 foot of snow existed in parts - not sure if this was dramatic, but it looked pretty snowed in. The had a special civil defence snow vehicle on tank type tracks out - and they still found it difficult to navigate the terrain.

Think it might be time to look at planning a route out towards naas direction instead. Any recommendations of a route from dundrum direction?

Dundrum, Rathfarnham, Bohernanbreena, Kilbride, Blessington, Eadestown, and back via Redgap, Steelstown Saggart.
Alternatively once in Eadestown the road toward Ballymore Eustace is good for cycling.

that item on the news looked to be just over the hill from Boharnabreena. I thought I saw a sign for the Kilbride military firing range in the distance.

I'm in the foothills there by stocking lane. The snow had completely cleared as far as Mount Venus road as and of last night, but there was still a lot of snow between there and the top of Kilakee. Not sure how good/bad the roads are specifically. I know on tuesday night they were still pretty bad as far as Mount Venus, so I'd imagine they were worse higher up.

I took a spin up on the bike the week before xmas and got as far as the Lemass monument before having to turn back because of the snow. From there back has been covered in snow since. Across the valley from Glenasmole, over to the far side, and down to Blessington has pretty much been covered since too.

I know its pretty mild today, but theres a lot of snow to be melted. I'd be inclined (no pun intended) to leave those hills go another week anyways.
