Have to say this has surprised me !!!

    http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/valverde-offers-to-submit-dna-sample

Spaniard proposes to have DNA analysis in independent lab
During the three-day hearing of his Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) appeal case against the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI), Alejandro Valverde has offered to submit a DNA sample to be analysed in a neutral laboratory.
In an effort to "show the irregularities in CONI's procedure," according to a press statement by the rider, Valverde would be willing to supply his DNA if it was tested in an independent lab outside of Italy.
"The UCI as well as WADA agreed to this proposal, only CONI has refuted realising it outside of Italy," the statement continued.
Valverde appealed to CAS against a two-year ban from racing on Italian territory that CONI imposed on him, alleging his involvement in Operación Puerto. CONI's case is based around a blood bag they obtained from the Puerto investigation they believe to belong to Valverde.
CAS' final ruling is expected in March.

He wants it tested in a lab outside of Italy.
(and the bags of blood don't count ;))

What are the odds on a false positive in his DNA test?

Isn't the whole case about the validity of the testing procedures used to prove he was guilty of doping, rather than being about whether he was guilty of doping or not?

They are so specific that they are accurate to 99.999999%
(just ever so slightly more  then the 2 standard deviations from the mean usually used as gold standard in medical/lab tests )

I think he's alleging some degree of fraud in the Italian labs (not the first time that accusation has been made)

Bold move unless he knows there is some reason why he they definitely won't do it, therefore nothing to lose and some positive public perception to be gained. Will be interesting to see how this pans out.

No more that with all other doping cases, he's or his highly paid legal team to be more specific are just looking to pick holes or undermine the whole thing. The Michelle De Bruin case springs to mind.

He was caught - he's guilty - ban him - move on.
