How difficult an undertaking would this be?

Depends, you could walk a marathons worth a day taking about 6 hours. That would leave you with plenty of recovery time that day. Not saying it would be easy but definitely possible.

The official Irish record for 100 miles is just under 15:22, so I suppose teh answer is it depends on the runner. 100 hours is just over 4 full days and 100 miles is just under 4 marathons so not especially hard, I wouldn't have thought.

What about 1000 miles in 1000 hours, with the added challenge of doing one mile every hour, so no marathons in 6 hours and then 18 hours of rest. The man in question had to run/walk one mile in every single hour for 42 day.

That was done as far back as 1809: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Barclay_Allardice#The_thousand-hour_walk

...now is it possible to do 100 miles in 100 hours and drink 100 pints?

Apparently it has been done and it utterly intrigues me!

That sounds like Oliver Reed territory, where the 100 miles would be covered between the bar, the table and the toilet dance floor.

Was done by Richard Dunwoody in the Summer, so I'd say that the novelty is gone now.

If you run 1611 miles in training Id say you get it done in about 18hrs 5 mins and 52 secs

    :D:D

oh and 9 litres (dunno what it is in Pints!) of water/isotonic drink!!

Walk slightly under a marathon distance a day for 4 consecutive days?
I know a few hill walkers in their seventies who would have no problem with this.
