Green, white tea, Roobis, camomile tea- which is best?

    HI,
    Out of (Bewley's) Green, white tea with cranberry, Roobis, camomile tea which would be the best/healthiest to drink every day?
    I would think Roosbos because is says it's 'caffeine-free' and 'rich in antioxidants'.

    I'm a male in my 30's, not trying to lose weight or anything, just wondering which would be 'overall' best.

    Anyone know for sure?

    They are all very healthy. Probably the best thing would be to alternate back and forth, variety is very imporant when it comes to healthy food. Rooibos has no caffeine, while the other two do.

    I wish I could drink rooibos, but I just can't. I've tried several varities, including ones infused with fruit or other flavors, but they all remind me of a cough syrup I was forced to take as a child. Blech! Of course, YMMV

    Caffeine is not actually bad for you, unless you are one of the unlucky ones who are sensitive to it. White tea is supposed to be better than green, which is better than black, but all of them are good.

    Hi, All those teas have health benefits. Green & White are part of the tea plant, whereas Rooibos is from the South African Red Bush And camomile is a herb. Alternate throughout the day. I find Camomile, great as a wind down at night time. The best tip I could give you, is to go for proper loose tea & herbs, not tea bag tea. Absolute muck! Try out the online shop www.clementandpekoe.com, I find them really good.

    Just whatever you do, don't add milk. It chelates (captures) the antioxidants and reduces a lot of the health benefits of the tea.

    Chamomile is a wonder drug great for everything!! esp your digestion. I would put that at the top of the list, but as someone said keep it for the evening because it is relaxing (although can be nice during a stressful day :)). My personal fav is redbush, full of vit C and antioxidants and no caffeine. If you need a caffeine go for tea. White, green or black its all the same plant just roasted for black and different parts picked for green and white. White is supposed to be the purest but I honestly couldn't tell you for definite. White and green can be very bitter if over brewed. Red bush is a nice caffeine free substitute to black, but black is better than coffee as less caffeine and less of an irritant to the digestive system. Welcome to the world of teas ... there is so much to choose from! (try mint next time)

    That's depressing news.My favourite thing about rooibus is that you can add milk and it's delicious. :(

    Im not a huge tea fan but the health benefits seem good enough for me to have a cup

    I get a very good white tea from Fallon and Byrne, they have a huge collection of tea's there, but you would pay that bit extra


    The green tea that I mainly drink you can find in Tesco's and Superquinn. Just don't get tea bags like it has been said.

    I've been pondering on this. Does 'Chelate to antioxidants' mean it bonds to the flavonoids? stopping them from being absorbed? what part of the milk does this?
    It also neutralises the effects of tannins on mineral sbsorption so that depends on your priorities really.
    so, the tannins stop the minerals from being absorbed? and the milk binds to the tannins stopping them from doing that?

    its good to get these things clear in my head :o

    Tea isn't really a significant source of polyphenols in an any way half decent diet so a drop of milk doesn't really matter.
    Yes Tannins inhibit mineral absorption (like calcium) and milk prevents that from happening so it's always a good idea to drink regular tea with milk in particular.

    To stop White & Green tea, tasting bitter etc. Buy loose Good Tea, & ensure the water is the correct temperature. A guide is White should be 70 degrees & Green 80. You can get a specific kettle, so it cuts off or just leave off the boil 5 -7 mins. That way you make sure you get the best taste but also you get all the health benefits. Depending on the precise type of tea & your preferred taste brewing time for White can be as little as 2 minutes & Green 3-4 mins.
    Silver Needle White tea is amazing and full of antioxidants. Can be expensive though & difficult to get your hands on
