    Hello,
Is it possible to tune in or receive BBC Scotland on a combo DTT and FTA receiver?

If so what steps do I need to take to do so?

    Regards

All the BBC's should show up with a full scan.
Also applies for the regional ITV's

Thanks for the reply! I haven't bought the box yet but want to get as much info as possible before i do. Its just that I notice that on the lists supplied on some of the forums for the combo boxes they mention BBC NI but not BBC Scotland?

If you go Freesat, you enter a postcode, and you get the local programmes, as if you lived there. If you put a Scottish postcade, you get Scottish telly, but no ITV HD.

You also get a 7 day epg.

No to threrad hijack, but are the bbc red button options available through freesat? Im currently on Sky but thinking of getting rid when the contract expires. But for the likes of the Snooker etc, I find the red button (table coverage etc) invaluable....is it available through freesat?

you bbc stations and red button programs, along with all freesat stations, will be available for free on your skybox when your Sky sub ends.

For non freesat/FTA sky box use this freq for your red button interactive channels:

12441 V 27500 2/3. Channels will come up as "Stream" These are where you get guided to when the red button is pressed.

Yes indeedee, thats probably got something to do with the Irish 'Sat4free' boxes, sold in Tesco & Power City these boxes are hard wired into BBC NI region only  admittedly I have heard some people say that you can possibly add other BBC regions??? but if I were you, I would take the advice of other posters here by getting a 'Freesat' or failing that, a 'Free To Air' box (with limited EPG), that way you can definately have BBC1 Scotland as your Number 1 :)

Also on the Humax boxes, not certain about the other Freesat receivers, it doesn't matter what postcode one enters, you can still set whichever BBC region you wish to be your home BBC1 & 2, i.e., the BBC regions at 101 and 102 on the EPG.

As was already explained to you in this post, all of the regional BBCs are available on a Sat4Free box.

thanks for the info guys. i notice many of the free to air box combos mention that they will pre-configure the boxes once your DTT transmitter is confirmed? What is there to preconfigure for stations in relation to different transmitters around the country. Can an simple scan not pick up all channels?

It's actually very time consuming setting up all the channels the first time and if your tech knowledge is limited it can be very fustrating. So a 'plug in and it's set up' FTA/ DTT box is very welcome for most people.

For some reason, FTA boxes do not have a simple way of sorting the 500 or so channels you get when you do a scan. All the BBC variations are listed, mainly together, all the ITVs together, and loads and loads of dross. If they couls be sorted alphabetically, it would help. If you could 'delete the next ten' sort of edit. It is extremely time consuming. At least with Freesat, they are in a particukar order. Always. Another problem.

But at least it is free - no ongoing subscriptions.

Some retailers have FTA boxes pre programmed to avoid this. Its also possible to tell the box to scan only FTA channels

Well the Sat4Free (Northern Ireland Region EPG) might actually be an issue to some?
