Any Freesat box should give you interactive on channels that it is available to eg. BBC.

Freesat boxes do not as yet give the full interactive feeds on BBC.
To get some interactive programmes, e.g concerts,a sky box without a card or a lidl/aldi box would give you all the feeds.

They don't? What's different about Freesat that makes it limited in that way?

At the moment the sports feeds are on freesat, but interactive feeds from rock concerts are not.
The bbc have promised to fix this for freesat, but not at the moment.

That's odd considering they broadcast them on the same satellite for Sky Digital viewers,

You can probably get them in non-Freesat mode

They are not available in non-freesat mode, i.e freesat does not list each stream as a channel like other fta boxes.

You also don't get the video weather forecast which you do get with a SKY box.

Freesat interactive, red button on BBC Home Page
    News
    Sport
    Weather
    Business
    Enterainment
    Lottery
Sport Multiscreen (including Darts Highlights, Video of sports news) at this time
    Regional News
    Read Latest Headlines

    Box's used Humax Freesat+ HDR and a Goodmans Sat4free box. ;)

In non-freesat mode did you check channels "Stream 0" through to "Stream 8". They carry the BBC interactive channels and I've certainly seen rock concerts including Glastonbury.

Only picking up Stream 0 and Stream 1 in non freesat mode, will try later a re-tune to search for other streams.

The interactive software used on SKY boxes is proprietary - ironically named OpenTV.;)
BBC had to develop new software for the MHEG profile used on Freesat. To date they have ported across the sports multi-screens, but have not yet implemented the news/weather and music multi-screens. They don't seem to be in any rush either, which is a pity:(

Streams 0 to 8 do not appear as individual channels on a humax foxsat hd receiver in non-freesat mode.
What brand of freesat receiver are you using ?

    Yes.
There are many threads on DS lamenting the fact of their absence, including replies from BBC interactive promising their inclusion in the future.

    Stream 2 - Stream 6 on Fortec star Box 12441 V 27500.
Entered code in manual search in Sat4free and Freesat HDR
    Result "No Channels"

I have them on an SL35 and they are still available as I checked last night. I also have a Humax Foxsat HD. I have most of the channels deleted in non-Freesat mode on the Humax as I rarely use it in that mode. When I get a chance I'll do a rescan. Don't see any reason why they shouldn't appear on the Humax because in non-freesat mode it picks up everything - AFAIK.

    Listen,
If you can pick up all the interactive bbc red streams on a freesat box, perhaps you could relay to humax and bbc interactive how you achieved it.
You'll save them a lot of effort and time...

I never said that I could get the BBC interactive streams on the Humax. I do however on the SL35. I don't use the Humax much in non-Freesat and I have most of the channels deleted in that mode. I did a full rescan in non-Freesat mode last night and yes the BBC interactive streams didn't download.:( I don't know why there is a block on them on the Humax. Scanning in non-Freesat mode in theory should download all available channels including the BBC Streams. Every other bit of rubbish is downloaded.

Always seemed strange to me that the bbc and freesat would have released their boxes onto the market without this problem corrected. They (bbc interactive) have also had two years to fix this glitch.
In this time sky and other fta boxes have been able to receive the full complement of red button features, making freesat boxes seem flawed and ill conceived.
BBC should double their efforts to fix this situation.
