Just what i was thinking of,

Just what i was thinking of,

There's a massive Irish Community there so even if you don't go with friends, you'll definitely find work.

Few friends went over and worked in some admin jobs, in banks and so forth. Travel for the year and just get bits of experience doing different businessy things.

If you're not inerested in that and want to further your career, I'd recommend looking into an accountant position in the industry you work in (e.g. Funds), or in another training firm as a Senior (however, it's unlikely they're atking on jobs).

Alternatively, there are a good few accounting jobs in the UK (or if you get a secondment with your firm that'd be even better!)

Ya you would have alot better chance of landing a good job with all the tax exams completed, The dole queue will be the only option for alot of people whos contracts are not been renewed.

    Hello All,

Wasn't he the president elect of your institute ?

He really knows how to screw people and may be able to use his remaining contacts (if any) to help you secure a job as you are in the same boat as him!:D

    Regards,

Was this the multinational that was ment to open in Cross Co Clare but couldnt as they didnt have the internet down there yet?

they do have the internet in cross, just not on computers.

As Homer Simpson says ''they have the internet on computers now'?

I qualified in late 2006, and went from working in a very small practice to working in an investment bank earning 50k a year. I left soon after though to move abroad, and, started on $70k (tax free).

The market has of course changed now (that was 3 years ago) but 50k certainly wouldn't be unheard of.

    Indeed.

35 is still young enough to consider an alternate career too.

    Hi

I have recently qualified as a chartered accountant, and am thinking of heading to oz to work.

Has anyone any recommendations or advice to help my job hunt?

I have tried emailing the careers & placement department on ICAI, but have yet to receive a response.

I would be very interested to hear from accountants who have worked in the Australian market.

    thanks
