Saw this before The Road, looks fairly crap tbh, and I like Cruise, nearly every joke in the trailer falls flat on its arse

In fairness, I did like the "no one move or I kill myself and then her" line.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

I like the look of it. Nothing wrong with a bit of nonsense action, as long as it has some charm. OK admittedly I don't like Diaz, and Cruise often pushes the charm down your throat to the point where it's just obnoxious, but still, I think i'll watch it at some point. Not every film has to be a masterpiece

I actually thought that this looks like it is going to be a lot of fun. I always look forward to new Tom Cruise movies as he always seems to pick good films.

It looks horrendously generic, though it does seem to have a charm.

I suspect it'll be a movie that lives or dies by its dialogue. Some of it seems patchy, but some of it raised a smile or two.

Why do they keep including the "on three" joke?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,788 ✭✭✭✭krudler

I hope the trailer is selling it as something its not, ie a generic mass appeal comedy/action movie, it could be ok but you know how trailers are, look at the one for Daybreakers "its the Matrix meets 28 Days Later!" ummm, no its not like either of those two movies in any way shape or form

The only good thing about this film is Cruise and I am being serious ;).
I dont know why James Mangold, Viola Davis, Paul Dano and Peter Sarsgaard would attach themselves to this film at all  There is really no comedy in it bar Diaz being herself and thats not funny at all and she has zero chemistry with Cruise. Cruise is only saving grace for this film he can handle the action and has one or two comedic lines.

cruise and diaz were on top gear anyone see?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,568 ✭✭✭candy-gal1

oh yes I saw! thought it was really cool, and i usually like Top Gear anyway but that was so great!
People were saying it was fake that they got to number 1 and 2 in the reasonably priced car, Im not sure though. :)

This film looks truly horrendus. It reminds me of Mr. and Mrs. Smith, the most pointless and stupid film possibly ever made.

This could be an enjoyable movie if you go see it with an open mind, some fairly positive reviews from the papers here.

So whichh looks worse, this or Killers starring Ashton Kutcher and Katherine Heigl?

Could be the next big Armageddon v Deep Impact style debate...

Well I saw it, and by god it's as horribly generic as the trailer made it look. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone bar those who had seen everything else and were really in the mood for a bland, by-the-numbers action romp, that's about as exciting and flavoursome as a Tuc biscuit. "Cookie Cutter" was a phrase invented for films & scenarios like this.

:o I saw it today, with the dad for my birthday weekend :D, and really thought it was great tbh. I mean il give you camerons over the top screams and squeals ( who i usually like in movies but she really doesnt suit action movies lol) but other that twas a great escapism movie imho.

If I could thank that post twice I would.

Despite the fact the film was clearly lacking something I still enjoyed it for what it was: A no holds barred popcorn action flick.. (despite me not eating popcorn while watching it.)

The best part of the whole movie was the use of Private Eyes by Hall and Oates in the container. Awesome song.

    5.8/10 is my score.
