    Hi all,

We're moving to Rathfarnham shortly and I'm looking at schools in the area for our son who is now two.

Any recommendations for both primary and secondary?

    Thanks in advance!

Hi, I live in the area, and there are a lot good schools, primary and secondary.

Saint Patricks in Ballyroan takes boys for Junior and Senior Infants, then the boys generally go to Ballyroan Boys which is literally down the road. There is also Saint Mary's at the end of the Grange Road, and Marlay Primary School which is at the opposite end. There is also a LETS in the Nutgrove area, and a gaelscoile in Ballinteer. I think there are more primary schools in the terenure/templeogue/knocklyon area also.

With Secondary Schools personally I think private secondary schools are better, such as Terenure College and Saint Marys in Rathmines. But then again De la Salle in Churchtown and Colaiste Eanna in Rathfarnham are both decent boys public secondary schools. There are a few mixed secondaries as well, such as Ballinteer Community school, Knocklyon Community School, the High School and Stratford.

There are loads more schools in the area, I just wanted to give you some ideas, and what I think are good schools in the area. I'm not anyone important, I have a few siblings who went to different schools and I've done some subbing/observation in a few of the primary schools. It's just my opinion. I hope this has helped! :)
