I'm looking out for a chrome bumper midget in really good condition as in one that needs no work. What can I expect to pay and do you think that a midget will increase in value over time?

    Cheers!

Did you get any further with any of the cars in this :

If you want a really good one without any work be prepared to pay 5-8K....rarely come across one that doesn't need work and even if it doesn't, it will need it shortly after you get it and then at regular intervals afterwards ! Thats part of the fun with these (for me anyway)

I still like this one if you can beat the guy down...

My view on value of car going up is that if you want an investment, buy shares !

On the verge of buying this one for £4500 including shipping, 3 months parts and labour warranty in garage of my choice. Just had engine overhauled and some minor paint blemishes sorted. Seller says the car is A1 and has never actually been welded! Strange but maybe true if it was well looked after. Also says he knows the car for the past 20 years.
Was thinking of asking for previous owner's contact details but don't want to seem mistrustful as he seems to be quite confident of the quality of the car and has been quite cooperative. Should probably head over but haven't the time and willing to take a chance on it.

Had a look that blue Irish car. Nice car but not quite as nice as the photos and some paint repairs needed. Was willing to let it go for about €4500

Looks very nice from the pictures and is well priced for the condition. A few questions :

    - What year is it ?
    - Mileage, number of owners, any documentation/service history with it ?
    - A warranty based on a garage he won't know in a different country sounds generous if he lives up to it

    Some minor observations :
    - The gearstick is in an unusual place - they are usually further forward towards the dash. In mine, I skin my knuckles off the map light putting it in first. This is either a distortion in the photo or it has possibly had a 5 speed conversion that involved a longer remote. If this is the case, you need to make sure that it was done properly.
    - The bonnet is slightly misaligned and is higher on the drivers side then the other
    - Wheels are not original, look like good minilites however
    - Any pictures of the engine bay or the interior of the boot ?

    - For that money, I'd get the RAC to check it out and negotiate a lower price on the basis that you don't want the warranty (I'm not sure that he'd live up to it anyway).

    - Pity the Irish one didn't work out, there are very few chrome bumber irish cars left
