    hi
im an 18yo college student looking for a part-time job in dublin. I'm just wondering is it possible to get one at this time of year or will i have to wait until the summer?

I've sent cvs out to a few places no luck so far. I'm not exactly the most experienced worker my only previous 'proper job' was working as a temp worker in argos last year. I've done my leaving cert if it matters.

I'd take whatever i could get at this stage even if it was just a few hours at the weekend once a week. I'd mainly be thinking about working in a shop of some sort but would be open to other suggestions. So how likely would i be to get offered a job?

    thanks

The direct approach is probably the only way. Go into shops, pubs, hotels and ask. Before the rugby internationals is often a good time as a lot of hotels, restaurants and pubs need extra help. Once in you might pick up a regular slot.

Sending out cvs is like mass mailing, it can be very ineffective. Walk around the city, look for signs in windows, go in and talk to places.

    Good advice above.

I think the idea of going into a pub/hotel asking do they need temporary help on the day a rugby match is excellent advice. It's a foot in the door.
